As all of you’ll know- my reviews are only about orange lipsticks. Well, there is something about this color that makes me all elated I own umpteen number of orange lipsticks, but my hunt for more just doesn’t seem to stop. So while I was excited that Lakme has come up with their new 9 to 5 creaseless lipsticks, I sure was disappointed to find out there is no orange shade available in that range. But before I could sulk, the SA showed me an orange lipstick from their “Absolute Matte” range.  At first I thought that it is the shade “Orange Burst” that I already have, but on checking the shade name, I realized that it’s a brand new shade, something that I don’t have. In no time, I was at the billing counter embracing the acquirement of a new orange lipstick 😉

My Experience with Lakme Absolute Matte Sunset Orange Lipstick:

Lakme Absolute Matte lipstick comes in a greyish, almost gun metal packaging which isn’t really attractive. The shade name and number is mentioned on the bottom sticker of the lipstick. It is really difficult to locate the shade of the lipstick in your makeup stash, unless you have stored the lipsticks upside down. I feel the printing on the sticker is quite dull, and it certainly needs some effort to actually read the name printed on it.

Sunset Orange is a lovely subtle orange shade with absolutely no shimmer or sheen. There’s something slightly subdued about this shade, it’s a happy medium between a n*de and a bright orange lip. It is neither too flashy nor too demure, I really like it.  Under tube light, the color looks more yellow toned and very different from what it actually looks in the natural light. So while trying out the shade in the store, make sure you check the shade both under tube light and natural light to see if it really suits you.

Lakme Absolute Matte lipstick range has two orange shades – Orange Burst and Sunset Orange, and in case you are thinking that both the shades look similar, then let me tell you the difference though both of them are orange lip colors, Orange Burst had a hint of pink in it when compared to Sunset Orange.  But under the tube light, both the shades look very similar to each other, which they are not.

The texture of this lipstick is really smooth, it glides easily on the lips. Despite being a matte lipstick, it doesn’t pull or tug at the lips. You can say it is a creamy matte lipstick. Since this is a matte lipstick, I definitely recommend making sure your lips are properly exfoliated and conditioned before applying this because once the lipstick settles down, it will accumulate on the dry areas of the lips and accentuate them.

This lipstick is quite pigmented. One swipe gives a good amount of color to the lips, but to make the color stand out, do apply 2-3 swipes of the lipstick. This lipstick lasts for a good 6-7 hours on the lips with gradual fading. Even after the lipstick fades away, it doesn’t dry out the lips and leaves a light stain behind.

For all the makeup sniffers like me, let me tell you that this lipstick has a sweet vanilla smell to it which fades away within no time, so it wouldn’t bother someone with a sensitive nose.

Overall, this lipstick in the shade “Sunset Orange” is a beautiful subtle orange lip color that can be worn as an every day lip color as it isn’t too bright and gaudy. It lasts long making it a perfect office wear lipstick. In case you are looking for a work appropriate orange lipstick, then you should try this shade, I am sure you will love it!!!
