Lakme Enrich Satin Lipstick in P170 Review

Hi IMBBians,

The new range of “Enrich” satins do look very exciting, with all the revamped packaging and cheerful and bright shades. I picked up two before this, P171 and P172. I was very disappointed with both, but somehow, I picked this up since I never return empty handed on a shopping visit. I lacked a purple in my collection, so it was a good enough reason to get it too.

My Take on Lakme Enrich Satin Lipstick in P170:

Packaging: I am so gaga over the new transparent tube with a “concave” glass on the top that makes the lipstick bullet appear tiny. The see-through packaging gets all my money rather than the shade itself. The shade number is written on a sticker below. I wish they were color-coded to avoid the effort of searching a particular shade in a stash.

Shade: P170 is a pretty purple with cool tones. It does have shimmer in them though they are not visible at the look of the bullet. The purple looks very wearable and not too garish or bold, but on me, it looks very much neon, which I am not normally comfortable sporting. It makes my teeth look horribly yellow and it photographs badly.

Texture and Pigmentation:  The texture is smooth, but not very creamy since it feels thin. It glides on lips easily. I am not an admirer of this texture though. This shade is pigmented well to cover up the lips in two swipes, but layering it will make the lipstick bleed.

Staying Power:  I haven’t really worn it anywhere since I really did not like how it looked on me. I was brave enough to test this at home and it stayed for about 3 hours with fading from corners. It does not survive a meal and it transfers a lot. It leaves a bright tint behind along with the shimmer that get scattered all over. It is pretty moisturising and I wasn’t left with a dry feeling at the end of the day.

I can only say that I am not really liking these new shades since all three I’ve bought have disappointed me in some or the other way. This sure is a lovely purple to flaunt and it totally depends on your comfort zone and skin tone, but this shade just didn’t work for me :-/
