Lakme Enrich Satin Lipstick P172 Review

Hi IMBBians,

I am back with another lipstick that I purchased along with some other stuff. Very recently, Lakme launched 10 new shades in the “Enrich Satin” range, but with a new packaging. I spotted these at the Lakme counter and quickly went over. Sadly, they were out of testers and I had no choice but to blindly buy (blame the tempt!). I could not resist myself, so bought just one. I made my sister to pick one shade, just by the looks of it and that’s how I ended up with this 😀 Let’s see how it fared.

My Take on Lakme Enrich Satin Lipstick P172:

Packaging: I am so ga-ga over the new transparent tube with a “concave” glass on the top that makes the lipstick bullet appear tiny. The see-through packaging totally rocks, when compared to the boring old ones of this range. The shade number is written on a sticker below. The bullet has the gorgeous engraving on it that makes me drool. The packaging is convenient and travel friendly. I wish they were color-coded to avoid the effort of searching a particular shade in a stash.

Shade:  P172 is a gorgeous pink shade. The lipstick has very fine pink shimmers in it that is almost invisible when you gradually check out the bullet. I totally dislike shimmer in my lipstick and wouldn’t have picked it up if I had the chance to swatch it 🙁 It looks milky and cakey when it is layered. This shade does look very pretty from the bullet and the swatch, but it does not flatter me when I wear it.

Texture: The texture of this lipstick is super smooth. It just glides on like breeze even though the lips are not exfoliated.  The texture though smooth, cannot be called super creamy. The texture is convincingly velvety, and smooth. I did not feel it moisturizing, and neither did it dry out my lips. It feels very lightweight on lips, almost like a lip balm. The finish is not matte but supple.

Pigmentation: This is the worst part of this lipstick. This has the worst pigmentation in this range I suppose. Again, I did not swatch before buying. I need more than 6 swipes to make the color to appear. And even after all the effort, it settles into an uneven finish. It tends to settle into every single line in the lips and accentuates flakes. The shimmer makes it worse. It adds to the uneven finish and also spreads all over the face. This will require more swipes to cover lip pigmentation.

This lipstick is just old stock in a new box! It has that same old horrid smell that I cannot relate to anything. It also tastes weird. For the revamped pack, with an increased price, I sure was expecting something. The smell lingers for a very long time and even when I wipe off the lipstick, it was still there for some time!

Staying Power:  This lasts around 2 hours maximum on my lips without snacking, and fades unevenly leaving behind the shimmers. Even by the slightest contact with anything, this lipstick transfers, and no doubt on cutlery and cups! If you have a meal in between, then it will just disappear leaving the shimmers behind. It does not leave any stain behind and just vanishes. It also bleeds, and does not stay in one place.

Pros of Lakme Enrich Satin Lipstick P172:

  • New, chic packaging.
  • Travel-friendly packaging.
  • The shade is a gorgeous pink.
  • Gives a supple, glossy finish.
  • Enriched with vitamin E and olive oil.
  • Did not dry out my lips.
  • Glides easily on lips.
  • Feels light on lips, almost like a lip balm.
  • Affordable.
  • Availability is easy.

Cons of Lakme Enrich Satin Lipstick P172:

  • This particular shade has poor pigmentation.
  • It gives an uneven, cakey finish when layered.
  • The color settles into fine lines and looks patchy.
  • This shade has shimmers in it, and I like my lipsticks to be shimmer free.
  • The same old horrid smell and taste. The smell lingers for a long time.
  • Transfers horribly!
  • Looks milky when it is swiped more.
  • This not only transfers but also bleeds from the lip line.
  • This shade will not suit dusky beauties.

IMBB Rating:
2/5

Would I Repurchase/Recommend Lakme Enrich Satin Lipstick P172?
This shade can be skipped easily from the new range. I think this is the poorest shade among the rest. There are other bright shades to be sought for, and I guess I was just unlucky that day to pick this (blind shopping)! 😀
