How are you all? Today I am going to review Lakme Eyeconic Deep Black 22 HR Kajal. Since Maybelline has come up with so many versions of their Colossal Kajal how could Lakme stay behind? In this whole Colossal versus Eyeconic saga, Lakme tried to give our eyes a two hours rest. Yes, the claim is of 22-hour stay, not 24 hours. Why not 24, why 22? This was the first question that came to mind (maybe 24 hours would have seemed copied from Maybelline). Anyway, last week I went for some shopping and saw this at the Lakme counter. The thing that attracted me is the mention of ‘Deep Black’ shade. I always found Lakme Eyeconic Kajal darker than the Maybelline Colossal kajal. Let’s see how this latest version worked out for me.

My Experience with Lakme Eyeconic Deep Black 22 HR Kajal:
Lakme Eyeconic Kajal Deep Black comes in the same old sea blue and black cardboard packaging. The kajal comes in a black retractable pencil with a nice cap. Lakme has changed the packaging a little; I mean the way ‘Lakme Eyeconic Kajal’ is written on the pencil. In tiny letters, the shade Deep Black is mentioned on it, too.
The twist up mechanism works well. The overall packaging is sturdy and travel-friendly. The shade ‘Deep Black’ is nice dark black colour. It is well pigmented and gives dark black colour in two swipes. I have swiped it thrice for the swatches, which give a dark bold look to the eyes. The texture is smooth and neither too delicate nor hard – just right to apply.
It glides smoothly over the eyelids and on the waterline. It didn’t irritate my eyes. There was no tugging or pulling during application. I applied it for good 10-12 hours and it didn’t budge. There was slight fading on the waterline but it was not looking messy. The matte look on the upper eyelid was intact and didn’t feel dry.
It is definitely waterproof and smudge-proof. When I tried to remove it with moist cotton it was leaving a black stain behind. So, I had to clean it with an oil-based makeup remover. Obviously, no one would wear kajal for 22 hours, but of course the 22 hours stay is definitely to create hype or maybe it’s just a copied claim.
Still it delivered more than I expected. I love the nice black kohl look it gives to the eyes with minimal effort. One can create different eyeliner looks with ease using this kajal. This kajal offers a nice dark black colour with good staying power at an affordable price. What else one could ask for!
