forever silk eyeliner Gypsy Green

What I like about Lakme Nine To Five Forever Silk Eyeliner:

  • I am in love with the colour. I have never enjoyed wearing a green eyeliner as much as I enjoy wearing it now. I have been wearing this liner almost daily from past one week and I love it. Gypsy Green is a dark khaki green eyeliner with golden metallic sheen to it.
  • The eyeliner is creamy and it glides on your lids like a dream. Not even a 0.1 % of tugging or pulling.
  • The colour is pigmented , Just a one swipe of colour and you’d be sorted.
  • It is a smudge proof and waterproof liner. It stays on my lids for more than 8 hours with or without a primer. These days, my lids have become a little oily but still the liner has never failed me.ย  I have noticed that the liner transfers on my upper lash line when it is freshly applied. But after it sets, it sets for entire day.
  • When worn on upper or lower lash line, it does not sting your eyes.
  • I like the black outer casing. It’s sleek and doesn’t take any space in your bag.
  • Does not have any funny smell.

khaki-eyelinerWhat I don’t like about Lakme Nine To Five Forever Silk Eyeliner:

  • I don’t apply this liner on waterline but even if a trace of this eyeliner goes on my waterline, it gives such a bad burning sensation. So I stick to using it solely on lash lines.
  • I am not a fan of mechanical liners. This is even worse, it does not twist back once twisted up. . ๐Ÿ˜
  • Also, since it is a twist up eyeliner , you cannot sharpen it. I find it very difficult to draw thin lines, especially in the inner corner of my eye lids.
  • The packaging although is pretty but not practical. i store my liners in a jar and the coloured band Lakme eyeliner is in the center. I would have preferred either top or bottom of the liner coloured. I literally have to search for it every morning to use it.
  • If you rub your eyes, it would probably fade or even get rubbed off.

Here is the swatch of gorgeous Gypsy Green :

Here is how this particular green looks on my eyes. Even till the evening, it stays on just like this. However, if you notice I have not been able to trace a thin line in the inner corner of my lids.

 eyeliner eye

Overall I am in love with this liner. It’s my HG green eyeliner shade. I just have to be careful that the liner does not touch my waterline and now I have got used of applying it carefully. ๐Ÿ™‚

I might go back for more shades but this green, I guess I would always buy. ๐Ÿ™‚ See swatches of the rest of the shades HERE

  1. lovely shade!!! looks very nice on you!
i dnt like the fact tht it is nt suitable for waterline n i hate the concept tht it dz nt twist back

  2. aahh, this is nice…. :waytogo: :waytogo: :waytogo:
but u toh wer going to buy faces ki green pencil naa :waiting: :waiting: :waiting: :waiting:

    1. nahin guess I am warming up to green noofoor. I have never been so comfortable wearing greens. ๐Ÿ˜€ I’ll get that too.. hihihi.. that’s a different shade na?

      1. ratidoo, faes ka gree is very very different….its not khaki at all…its a lot brighter than this one

        1. natty I love khakis so this toh def had to find a place in my stash. ๐Ÿ˜€

I have to check the faces green also because I love the liners so much.

              1. noofoor that’s an amzingly werable green. i’ll get it. I am little pagal about khaki. I dont think you know that. ๐Ÿ˜› a

                1. ab ptaa chal gya ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

i checkd dat site, uspe kett ka kuch kuch hai, but eyeshadows nhi… ๐Ÿ™

  3. rati i was waiting for this review………it :methinks: looking nice on you but i have dark circle and not sure it could be look better on me :nonono:

    1. conceal conceal conceal , Sim. It’s a pweety shade. ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

you know you cna just apply a little concealer / primer on your lids, apply some loose powder na dthen you cna use any colour ka eyeliener. ๐Ÿ˜€

        1. errr.. anks I never thought there could be tutorial done on that. I’ll definitely do it now. :))

there are some on how to apply coloured liner and how to apply liquid liner though. ๐Ÿ™‚ You may check!

          1. actually, i like the way you apply it on the upper and lower lash line. when i try to do it, it seems horrible ๐Ÿ™ i mess up the outer edge of the upper lash line even when i use coloured liner only on the upper lash.. so lining the whole eye is almost always a fail when i have tried it…. ๐Ÿ™

    1. you can use the concealer pencils as your primer as well. I use mac concealers only … i have used colorbar concealer before and they have relaunched their concealers. I am not sure how they are bt you may check those. :))

  4. I want to try the jaded mint liner, looking nice on you!! You can sharpen them with lotus botanica liners sharpner, the cute ones provided at the back of the liner ! But then product wastage!!

    1. areee haan!! I toh totally forgot about those tapaswini. Thank you. Those sharpeners are really nice. ๐Ÿ˜€ I agree about the product. :((

I hope you like this liner. I am totally enjoying using this. ๐Ÿ˜€

  5. i just luv the way u apply these pencil eyeliners rati    .. its so nr to the lashes & luks gorgeous on u :jalwa: :jalwa: .. i always have to go back n forth atleast twice to get tht correct line .. ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ˜

    1. Rentu i wear so much blue and brown on day to day basis. it’s not even funny. ๐Ÿ˜› Was looking for a change , I am enjoying the phase. ๐Ÿ˜€

      thanks! :))

  6. you know one day i am going to steal you and take you to my home, and ask you to teach me makeup makeup………..i so love your tutes :teddy:

  7. lovely subtle shade, defnly gonna pick one up for myself. I like the sharpener versions myself, somehow I find them better texture wise. Read on a blog a while back that twist up/retractable ones tend to be harder to prevent breakage, where as the sharpening types are softer cos they are protected by proximity to the plastic/wood. Dunno if it is true.

    1. I guess what you are saying is right. I guess that is the reason it is just twist up. It is very soft and if you twist up more of it, it would break. so they have removed the option. Even when you twist these up no.. a very little liner comes out.

I just like the sharpening ones more because those can become become very pointed and i can really play with the thickness and thinness of the lines. ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. lovely shade. darker than Faces Forest green for sure and not as shiny either. will buy  i do love Faces Forest green and their Aqua. pretty pretty shades.

      1. oh i thot Faces was lighter and shinier but u r right..probably more greener too. did u get a chance to try out the lakme liquid eye liner – midnight moon?

            1. Thanks. i read the review. wonder why i didnt remember it  glad the others liked it too..feels like a good purchase. gotta buy the other shades now. ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. you have amazingly attractive eyes Rati ๐Ÿ™‚
acha can u please suggest me some good copper/brown eye pencil?

    1. shaili thanks. ๐Ÿ™‚

colorbar makes awesome brown. even in this range they have a gorgeous brown liner.

i think maybelline vivid and smooth has copper liner. There is warm copper in lakme eye pencils as well. It was launched in one of their previous collection.

and here is a swatch of copper liquid liner

  10. thank u so much..m goin for colorbar cocobar aaj hi ๐Ÿ™‚ yay ! will check out maybelline n lakme liquid liners i cant apply dem dat expertly ๐Ÿ™‚

  11. wow this color looks awesome on your eyes. n def. do a tutorial on how to apply colored eyeliner, i just love the way you apply them

    1. amel there is one tutorial on IMBB on how to apply coloured liner . you may check that. I’ll do one myself also. :))

      thanks. :))

  12. you know its strange i just don’t know how to apply liner on my lower lash line n how to smudge it. also i don know how to blend the eye shadows, whether in circular motions or back n forth or just patting the brush…. will be very kind of you if u do a tutorial on that to.

  13. sunder sunder nainaaaaa!!!!
usse bhi sunder eye linerrr ๐Ÿ˜‰

  14. nice shade..pretty eyes..but eye pencil and no sharpening….. ๐Ÿ™ ….i dnt like retractable pencils.. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ :struggle: :struggle: :struggle: :struggle:

  15. i loved the shade…sigh but i abhore liners which cannot be used over the water line!!!am a kajal person totally ad with dark lids..i prefer water line use

    1. i know.. first two days toh i kept wondering if it was this liner that was stinging so much or something else. with regular use I have totally come to a conclusion that it stings on my waterline. totally hate that. bt i loovveee the shade toh maaf kar diya. ๐Ÿ˜›

  16. Superb shade Rati….and a think black eyeliner on waterline, yet outlining the lower eyelid with same shade rocks!!!!!

  17. wow…. its an awesome color….. wearable green ๐Ÿ™‚ looks lovely on you ๐Ÿ™‚ if i remember you have tried a khaki color previously no…. i’m bad at correlating colors with brands…. even that looked good ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Ramya I try all kinds of khaki colours on my eyes. ๐Ÿ˜› i have one khaki ( a lightish one from MAC), had henna gold from lakme (bt that didnt use to show on my lids too much ๐Ÿ™ ) and love using khaki eyesahdow. ๐Ÿ˜€

  18. Lovely shade – such a wearable color. Reminds me of some other olive color from lakme glide on pencil which you had posted sometime earlier. I always end up breaking twist up pencils and hence wasting the product :(.
Rati Di..please do a tutorial on pencil eyeliner application for both upper and lower lash line. I just can’t get it right.

    1. ayedee i’d do the tute. This one you cant twist up much, so the chances of it breaking gets reduced. ๐Ÿ™‚ check it out at the store. you might like it. :))

lakme has a shade called henna green, bourjois also has a khaki green pencil. ๐Ÿ™‚

  19. It looks Nice & i think even i like Khaki more than Green.. :methinks: :methinks: Suits you very well.. :jalwa: :jalwa:

  21. Hey Rati, have a doubt, can dese colored eyeliners esp d ones dat come with shimmer b used on waterline?
I have maybelline vivid and smooth liner and lakme glide on eye pencils in grey and blue respectively but not sure if i can use dem on waterline

  22. Great review! I wanted to know, have u used a black eyeliner or the same eye pencil for the waterline. do u have a tutorial on how to apply eyeliner and eye shadow

  23. I was wondering if I should buy this or the Colorbar i glide pencil to use on the waterline. But after reading the reviews of both, I think i can’t buy either. I’m just so confused now! what should i use for the waterline? :smug:
