Lakme Nine to Five Lipstick in Pink Latte Review

Lakme Nine to Five Lipstick in Pink Latte Review

Hey Girls,

Hope all of you are enjoying this festive season with so many reasons around to celebrate.  Today’s review is about a lipstick from the Lakme Nine to Five range in the shade Pink Latte, number 29.  This range has been around for a while and having read a few posts by Neha on IMBB about a few of these, it reminded me that I also had a lipstick from this range which is my absolute favorite for weddings and traditional outfits.

Price:

Rs. 350 approximately (I don’t exactly remember the price, it has been a while since I got this).

Shade:

It is a pretty plum maroon matte shade which would suit Indian skin tones very well.

Packaging:

Quite sturdy, the lipstick bullet is also sturdy enough, unlike the wobbly ELF lipstick bullets that I had reviewed earlier.

My Experience with Lakme Nine to Five Lipstick in Pink Latte:

Like I have always mentioned, mine is a medium skin tone and not all lipstick colors can flatter my skin tone, so I always have to be careful while choosing the colors.  That being said, maroon is a color that would most of the time look good on any skin tone and for me, this has been the best maroon shade that I ever tried and I love wearing this to any wedding or whenever I decide to go desi with my attire as I know this would never fail me.

The lipstick definitely adds a nice elegance to my face; however, there is one thing I would want to mention.  I feel this is a bit grainy when I glide it on to my lips. I don’t know if it is with this range or if it is with this particular lipstick, but I really feel that this lipstick is soft yet more on the drying side. It is not the best moisturizing lipstick I would say, but then being a matte shade, I don’t know how I should be judging it. A top coat of lip gloss solves all those problems.  The staying power is pretty good though, stays on my lips for about 3-4 hours easily, saving me the need of re-application. But one thing of concern is that it is poorly pigmented being a dark shade, minimum of 3 glides is a must if you want full color on the lips.

Nevertheless, I just love this lipstick for the shade and for its staying power.

Pros of Lakme Nine to Five Lipstick in Pink Latte:

  • Very suitable shade for Indian skin tones.
  • Staying power is good.
  • Affordable for a good maroon shade.
  • Will suit any kind of traditional/desi outfit.
  • Sturdy packaging.

Cons of Lakme Nine to Five Lipstick in Pink Latte:

  • Feels grainy and not very pigmented.
  • Feels very dry without a gloss over it.

4.5/5
