Lakme M422 Enrich Satin Lipstick Review + Mac Dupe Alert

Product Purchased by IMBB

Hey everyone,
Hope you all are doing well. As for me I am totally enjoying the monsoons this year as Kolkata is getting drenched and water logged every single day. With this ongoing cool weather my deep love for bold lipsticks has attained new levels so when I hauled for my IMBB sponsored products I made sure to collect a few bolds from the Enrich Satin Range from Lakme, as after the face lift I have been pretty drawn to this range. So let’s see how this particular shade turned out.

My Experience with Lakme M422 Enrich Satin Lipstick:

As we all know by now, Lakme has given a face lift to this ever so old range of lipsticks and now it comes in a sleeker and younger looking packaging. The age old maroon/ brown plastic case has been replaced by a see through round case which makes it easier to locate the shade in the stash by just looking at the cap or the top part. The case click locks tightly and is thus quite good for travelling with. The lipstick has a typically sweet fragrance that most of us are familiar with by now but it could be annoying for girls who are new to makeup or this brand, so do catch a whiff of this at the store before buying.

The shade M422 is a warm maroon shade with distinct brown undertones and is “oh so compatible” with the dusky Indian skin tones. I am a bold lippy lover and for me this shade was an instant love as for my lazy days just a swipe of this lippy coupled with a crisp bold black eye liner is all I need to look fresh and bright.

Being a bold shade, it’s pretty savvy to create a stain with and that’s the way I am sporting it for work these days.I found it to be a very close dupe for MAC Dubonnet both shade wise and texture wise with the only difference being that, probably Lakme is a touch browner or deeper but I promise on the lips they look absolutely the same so if you are on a budget or not sure whether you can carry off this bold shade or not you could totally start off with the Lakme lippy.

Texture wise I would say that I am falling more deeply in love with this range with every passing day. It’s super smooth and creamy to apply and is really moisturising so yayyy for that, as the lip balm can totally be skipped. The good part is that instead of being so moisturising the bullet is pretty firm and there are absolutely no chances of melting or breakage ( unless you aren’t trying to fight with these :p) whatsoever. It doesn’t bleed in spite of being a deep shade and no lip liner is required underneath.

5

In terms of pigmentation, Lakme has yet again done a great job as the shades are crazily pigmented this time and one swipe is all it takes to get a full blown intensely saturated colour on the pout which I feel is commendable for a drugstore brand. The staying power is pretty decent as well. It stays for a good 2 – 3 hours on the lips which is good enough for a creamy lipstick and fades off eventually leaving behind a rosy stain which stays for a couple of hours more.
It has a tendency to transfer which I feel is common to all creamy finish lipsticks but given the beauty of this shade I am ready to overlook that bit.

Summing up the pros and cons,

Pros of Lakme M422 Enrich Satin Lipstick:

  • Affordable.
  •  Easily available.
  • Fresh new packaging.
  • Intensely moisturising.
  • Amazing pigmentation.
  • Good staying power.
  • Dupe for MAC Dubonnet.

Cons of Lakme M422 Enrich Satin Lipstick:

• Tendency to transfer
• Fragrance may not be liked by everyone.

IMBB Rating:4.75/5

Finally I would say that I am madly in love with this lipstick as is evident from the review already and the fact that it’s a dupe for MAC Dubonnet makes me love it all the more as with the incessant price hikes of MAC I have already started looking for cheaper alternatives. So if you are a fan of bold reds too then definitely pick this up asap, I promise you wouldn’t regret one bit.

  1. I can never dare try the shades that you own Ankita. They are beautiful but I don’t think I would ever wear them. Let’s thank Lakme for not putting shimmer in this one.
