Lakme Nail Colour Remover Review

What is Lakme Nail Colour Remover?

  • Enriched with Vitamin E to prevent excessive dryness around the nails.

Price: Rs 70

I have been using Lakme Nail remover from almost 7-8 years now and I have even tried other nail paint removers but I always keep coming back to this one.

Lakme Nail Colour Removal

What I love about Lakme Nail Paint?

  • It completely removes my nail paints-  2coats, 3 coats, base coat, top coat whatever. It removes every last bit of my nail polish.
  • I don’t have to use too much of it to remove my nail paint.
  • I don’t have to make an effort to remove my nail polishes.
  • The bottle has a plastic stopper with a small hole in it. It’s easier to control the quantity of the product that ways.
  • I like its packaging. If I remember they have revamped the packaging over the years.
  • It’s decently priced.
  • It does not give any burning  sensation on my skin.

What I don’t like about Lakme Nail Colour Remover?

  • I think it has acetone in it because it smells pretty alcoholic.
  • It does dry my nails after I remove my nail polish. I apply cuticle cream or a normal moisturizer on my  nails as soon as I remove my nail polish.
  • No ingredient list mentioned so I have no clue about what is going on my nails. I just use it because it works and it works pretty well.

Apart from Lakme Nail Colour Remover I have also used Colorbar Nail Polish Remover and Revlon Nail Polish Remover. Colorbar remover is acetone free but Lakme has always been more easily availble so I tend to pick up Lakme’ nail colour remover mostly. Also I have not been able to find the Rs 50 nail paint remover bottle that Colorbar used to sell These days Colorbar  sells some other nail paint remover that is pretty expensive so I never bought it.

My biggest disappointment among nail paint revers has been Revlon Nail Paint remover. It was expensive (Rs 115/-), I had to use too much of the product to clean my nail paints, and I had to put in so much effort every time I had to remove my nail polishes. It sucked pretty much. :pissedoff:

Which nail paint remover do you use?

  1. Rati, I have been using this Lakme paint remover for as long as I can remember and I agree with you that the stopper dispenses only a little amount at a time on to the cotton.

  2. I have always been loyal with lakme Nail Polish Remover… But i am loving Colorbar right now… It is still available here in that Rs. 50/- bottle…

  3. I’ve been using this Revlon and as you said I had to put in so much of effort to remove the nail polish, so I just stopped using it letting the polish dry and fade out by its own !!!!! or remove it in the parlour. Now I want to try either Lakme or Colour Bar 🙂

  4. My favourite is the Streetwear nail enamel remover – 50ml for 65/-. I ditched Lakme for this one because it does the job fast & easily, has a nice smell and does not leave my nails dry. But I do apply some vitamin E oil after I clean my nailpolish.

    1. ya thats true
      all others are expensive
i have stocked up 4 avon removers for Rs 85 each(got on offer though)….specially cause its acetone free and a bigger bottle & does not dry my nails…
and its hard to find a good one
i tend to go through the lakme one very soon…cant afford to buy again and again

i agree…i hate the revlon one …looks so cheap

    2. oh let me take a look at that after i finish this one. just that streetwear is not easily available so i end up picking lakme all the time. 🙁

  5. hey, you know wat we used to do…i mean my batchmates who were studying chem…we used to carry nail polishes to our chem lab and remove the ones painted on our nails with the acetone in our chemistry lab…free ka nail remover….chem lab day was our nail paint apply and removal day also. 🙂

    1. ha ha
thats sooo cute…its great to listen to such cute old stuff….
Jomol ur babe is shoooo cute :-*
      god bless

  6. Like everyone…I too use Lakme.. :shy:

In between, I had moved to an imported brand..not able to remember the name though..It was pretty good and never left a whitish film on ma nails like Lakme sometimes does.. :-((

But now its nowhere to be found, so I am back to Lakme..

But i would like to know how good is pure acetone..Guess most of the salons use it.Anybody..any opinion ?:-)

    1. he he i also keep coming back to it. guess after reading mrunmayee’s comment i’ll make sure i buy colorbar only. kitna kharcha. OMG!!! 🙁

  7. Acetone could be very drying.. It not only removes nail polish but will strip your nails and skin of moisture.. Acetone is used to make glasswares in the lab completely moisture free… So there you go… Salon people will use anything that is cheap… 🙄
It is most wise to use an acetone-free one…

Excuse me for being such s gyaan-batu… :idk: :idk:

  8. We don’t know the amount of acetone in the remover… 🙁
    I was merely replying to poornima’s query… Pure acetone is a strict no-no… :-((

Even Cb one doesn’t mention ingredients… Almost all of them contain some amt of acetone… 🙁

So the best thing would be to moisturise your nails thoroughly… :-))

    1. Thnks for that bit o information M..I was always in 2 minds about this acetone thingie..Now that you explained, I guess I will not try at all..god..who would want spoil the natural layer of the nails..

Btw, I remmebred the name of the imported brand..Its called Lander..and the product was very nice..has anyone used it?
