Lakme Night Fever Eye Magic Review – Summer 2010

What is Lakme Eye Magic ?

The lightweight, translucent gel comes with quick dry formula that fixes the sparkle in place. Paint crystalline lines for a soft look or sweep the entire eyelid for a jewel encrusted look. Can be used as an eye shadow or as a highlighter for cheeks or any other part of the body in classic shades of gold and silver for a subtle, pearly shine.

M.R.P. : Rs. 295/-

Lakme Eye Magic

Shades Available – Golden and Silver

How to use : Quick drying, stay-in-place glitter. Use to top up or on its own.

What I like about Lakme Eye Magic?

  • It comes with aย  sponge tip applicator that make it super easy to use.
  • The application dries within seconds and then stays on for good 4-5 hours.
  • You can use it as an eye liner with an eye liner brush and it works fine that ways.
  • Both golden and silver colours are pretty. The packaging is quite convenient and you can easily carry it around.
  • It is decently priced.

Lakme Eye Magic Review

What I don’t like about Lakme Eye Magic?

  • The product dries to a translucent gel and as soon as it dries you feel stretchiness and heaviness on your lids. As if some glue has dried up on your lids. I tried to wear it atleast thrice or four times and the heaviness on lids only resulted in a headache.
  • The application is quite uneven. As you apply the product with the applicator, you would notice that some where the product applies more and somewhere less. The same goes for cheeks. If you use it as a cheek highlighter, it dries as a chunky patchy glitter.
  • It settles in your crease. The gel dries quickly but you have to keep your lids close until it dries completely or else you would notice chunks of glitter in your crease.
  • When you try to even out the application with your fingers or brush, most of the product sticks to your finger/ brush leaving the eye lid application even patchier.
  • It smells quite medicinal.

Lakme Eye Magic

Overall, the product has been a sheer disappointment. ๐Ÿ™ I think Lakme Eye pots are far better.Eye Magics looked so pretty in bottles but that’s about it.

Following are the pictures of eye magic (silver) on my lid.

Without base:

Lakme Night Fever Eye Magic

With base, the appliction loked even worse. Do you see how much glitter is within my crease. ๐Ÿ™

  1. Mrunmayee, I don’t think even you will be able to make these look good….Rati, makers of these I think deserve the castor oil drums!!!! Thank goodness I didnt buy it when I saw it…

    1. and potatoes too. ๐Ÿ˜€ I found them so pretty when I swatched them. ๐Ÿ™ I was so sad that i didn’t even bother to do any eye makeup…

    2. btw you are playing tricks to divert castor oil drums to others. The donkey and the potato gurl won’t let that happen. :giggle: :giggle:

      1. I thought these would be good since they looked so pretty as swatches but i really couldn’t make them work. ๐Ÿ™ I think they must come up with more shades in eye posts. They would have been such a hit among all of us. .. :-/

  2. Lakme continues to disappoint..yesterday I bought a 9to5 intense shine eyeliner (wouldn’t if I had read the reviews about it given here!!!)..on the back of palm it looked glittery blue-black..quite nice..but on the eyelids it became pale gray!!! and NO SHINE WHATSOEVER!!! Spoilt my money and mood :pissedoff:

    1. Aww!! yeah I did that review long back. That liner was very disappointing. The only good things I could discovered from their 9-5 range were their eye pencils. They were superb but other than that nothing tempted me.

  3. Hi Rati……Hope you recvd my email. Wanted to say a few more things but I forgot! Pls let me know or else I can send it again. BTW, I find that spreading these eye magic gels with fingers to use them as upper lid/browbone highlighters works quite well. You’re right, they dont do well as shadows.

    1. I received the mail Sabrina. I totally forgot to reply. :(( Will do so today for sure. You know, I don’t highlight my browbone area too much because i have heavy browbone area and it needs more of contouring. I still tried. While spreading with fingers I noticed most of it was sticking on my fingers only. ๐Ÿ™

They have mentioned that it can be used as an eyeshadow..

      I think I was expecting a little more….

      1. You’re absolutely right, Rati, while spreading, a lot of it sticks on to the fingers. What I do is rub the leftover product from my fingers on to my skin just above the blouse neckline, to add some shimmer to the skin!!

  4. Hi ladies

Discovered this blog very recently. Great gnaan. I’ve never ever used make up (cept lipstick and khol liner) and this blog has introduced me to a world I never knew existed. Thanks!

    1. Hi ANita,

Welcome to I MBB. I think we all started from gloss and kajal and we have been getting more and more addicted to makeup and beauty products now. ๐Ÿ™‚

      Thanks and keep visiting. ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. I hope someone from Lakme’s product development team is reading this. The shimmer particles didn’t look so glittery and clumpy in the swatch on your hand but on the lid it’s a nightmare. Lakme’s products keep making me lose faith in the brand. Instead of one :star: I’d give it

    1. The application is very uneven an also once it dies, it feels that there is a layer of glue stuck on your lids. Also you have to keep looking down until it dries, if not it settles in your crease as clumps of glitter. ๐Ÿ™

It might work for someone but it completely failed for me. ๐Ÿ™

Other than this most products in the collection are decent and some even good.

  6. Hi rati u no i bought the eye magic a fewdays back… n wat i found was a sheer dissapointment…i think it can neither be used as a shadow & as a highlighter.
    Rs 295/- down d drain….. :-/ :pain:

  7. errr… glad you wrote this because I wanted to know whether it was only me who was disappointed or someone else also had the same experience.

    Which one did you buy?

    ๐Ÿ™

    1. the golden one…… :-/ :pain: U r right rati this thing spreads unevenly on the the lids even with a primer….
I tried to use it 4-5 times but nothing helped…
      I’ll send u the pics…..
      Lakme personals r u listening… eye magic a complete flop….

      1. Infcat I felt that it looks even worse when applied on the base. ๐Ÿ™ I fail to understand how they come up with such products. ๐Ÿ™

  8. I swatched all the Night Fever products over the weekend and was totally disappointed by this!! The eye pencils n lip artist tempted me but I have decided never ever to buy lakme products without reading some 1st hand reviews abt it….

And this review only further proved my feelings abt eye magic…..All I can think of is glue n glitter…the kinds we used to use in school for craft :-((

    1. I quite liked it as a swatch and I thought i could use it as a highlighter on the center of the lip but I couldn’t make it work any way. ๐Ÿ™

It is actually glue and glitter and you just can’t make them work together.Atleast not for this. ๐Ÿ™

        1. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

It so hurts when things u buy with ur hard money dont work!!!

maybe u can try to use it as a glitter for back etc ?:-)

            1. Hd/rati i have n idea, i’ll keep ir aside for my offsrings..Sure they wil have a great fun with it making crafts… etc. or may be decorating their dolls/toys…
              He he  ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜›
