Lakme Nine to Five Day Perfect Lip Colors Review

Shades shown in this review: Pacific Sunset, Twilight Flame.
Lakme has recently launched a new version of their Nine to Five lip colours, in about 12 shades. I am reviewing 2 of these lipsticks I bought recently.

Price: Rs. 550

These lipsticks come in a metallic pink case sealed with a cellophane wrapping.

LAKME NINE TO FIVE DAY PERFECT LIP COLOURS – REVIEW

Below Left: Pacific Sunset, Right: Twilight Flame

Pacific Sunset is like a muted-terracotta-rose shade with a medium sort of frost finish, no very obvious shimmer or sparkle.

Twilight Flame is a light bronzy/frosty (light) brown shade with a frost finish. I bought this because I hardly have any browns in my collection.

Pros of Lakme Nine to Five Day Perfect Lip Colors

 These lipsticks are definitely creamier, smoother, more light-weight and more pigmented than their earlier counterparts (which I personally found quite stiff and drying, and also having less colour pay-off).
 Does not dry out the lips.
 Gives full coverage with 1 or 2 swipes.
 Is extremely long-wearing; lasts through meals and beverages for say around 6 to 8 hours.
 Comes in an attractive case.
 The tip of the inner case containing the lipstick is slanted the same way as the top of the lipstick, which I found quite nice.
 I think they contain SPF, though I tore off the cellophane wrapping too soon to take a note of it!!
 I found quite a good array of shades, 12 in all.
 There is something in there for everyone – be it shimmer finish, frost finish or creamy finish.
 They come in ‘shade names’ and not ‘numbers’, which is quite interesting – I personally have been very bad in remembering shade numbers.

Cons of Lakme Nine to Five Day Perfect Lip Colors

 I wish there were more pinks and corals included in this range. Not everyone likes browns, plums and maroons.
 This may not be a con, but I found the smell a little different from the usual lipstick smell, but it didn’t bother me much as the smell went away after application. (I asked a family member about the smell, who described it to be a bit like Bourbon chocolate biscuits!).
 Sigh, sigh, sigh….yet again I have to say that Lakme has not not yet updated their website with details and swatches of these lipsticks. They will do so, of course, much later.
Now, I don’t know whether this is a Pro or a Con, but I have a strong feeling that these lipsticks are either imported, or made with imported ingredients.

I would like to give these lipsticks :rose: :rose: :rose: :rose: , for the simple reason that I have gone blue in the face mentioning in all my Lakme reviews that they don’t update their website on time with their new launches. Sorry.
I would like to buy these in just 2 more shades : Strawberry Magenta and Sun Shimmer. I swatched these 2 shades at the store and liked them. Strawberry Magenta is a lovely deep pink frosted shade and Sun Shimmer is a glowing orange and has the most shimmer out of all the shades in this range.

(I am wearing Faces nail enamel No. 24 Shimmer Mauve in the swatch photos.)

  3. Twilight Flame looks lovely on you Sabrina. :inlove: I’d have been picking up this shade if it were not for its long wearing formula… Will look for a similar shade in Enrich Satin or something.

    1. Thanks a lot, Sonal. If you want almost the same shade in non long-wearing, I was just thinking that L’oreal Paris has an almost similar shade called Fever Brown (which I have reviewed earlier, 5 shades from L’oreal Paris). It is from the Color Accords Intense range of L’oreal Paris.

  4. pacific sunset looks stunning on you! i loved the packaging the day i saw it and now i hear the lipstick is totally worth the price! seem intensely pigmented too! 🙂 i’m gonna run to see those swatches again now. 😀
