Skin tone: medium tanned
Lakme India recently launched 20 beautiful lipstick shades in its new ‘Enrich Matte’ range. I am not a fan of Lakme lipsticks but, as an orange lover, I picked up two orange shades from this range. Today’s review is going to be on Lakme Enrich Matte lipstick in the shade OM12. Let’s get into the review.
Price: INR 295 for 4.7g
• India’s number one lipstick now in a matte format for the first time
• Creamy matte texture that is comfortable to wear
• Finish and color delivery of matte lipsticks but comfort of creme lipsticks
• No drag on lips
• Intense color payoff
My Experience with Lakme OM12 Enrich Matte Lipstick:
Packaging: The lipstick comes in a matte silver cardboard box with all the details. The actual lipstick comes in a plastic tube with a clear lid. The packaging is very similar to their ‘Enrich Satin‘ range; only that this one has a matte silver tube which indicates the matte range. I am not impressed with the packaging, but the see-through cap makes it easier to identify the shade. It is definitely travel-friendly.
Shade: This range doesn’t have any shade name – just shade numbers are there. ‘OM’ in this shade number means orange matte. It is a beautiful peach-orange shade that looks so fresh and summery. It doesn’t contain any shimmer. But the shade is too light for Indian skin tones .
This shade washes out my medium skin tone a little, and is definitely not for darker skin tones. It will look best on fair skin tones, but I can carry it nicely so I really like this shade. The shade is really pretty, but the texture messes up the overall look. The lipstick, owing to its texture, looks uneven on my lips. The lipstick is decently pigmented, but it won’t look good on pigmented lips. Also, it deposits color in an uneven manner.
Texture and Quality: This shade is a little dry in texture. It glides softly but the application appears too patchy on the lips. It has a nice matte finish, but it feels dry and it also highlights dry patches. Layering makes it more uneven and patchy. It doesn’t transfer that much and it is a smudge-proof lipstick, but it bleeds from the corners and settles into the fine lines. After a few hours, my lips start to feel dry. And, the color also starts to crease. You need to exfoliate your lips properly before applying this lipstick. I suggest applying a lip balm underneath too. It glides smoothly and never looks patchy on a well-moisturised base. Still, this lipstick is dry in nature.
Staying Power: This lip color stays on nicely for around 5 hours on my lips. It can survive lunch. But after lunch it looks faded, feels extremely dry, and settles down into the fine lines. Hence I need to apply a lip balm too while touching up this lipstick.
Overall: I like this fresh summery peach shade, but it won’t suit every skin tone well. Unfortunately, the quality is not good and it has a very dry and patchy finish. It is not at all for dry, chapped lips.
Pros of Lakme OM12 Enrich Matte Lipstick:
• Travel-friendly and affordable.
• Fresh and summery peach shade.
• Decent pigmentation.
• Doesn’t contain shimmer.
• Has a true matte finish.
• Decent staying power.
• Doesn’t transfer or smudge.
• Can survive a lunch.
Cons of Lakme OM12 Enrich Matte Lipstick:
• No shade name, only number.
• Washes out medium to dark skin tones.
• Strange smell.
• Application looks patchy and uneven.
• Prior exfoliation is needed.
• Bleeds from the sides.
• Settles into the fine lines and crease too.
• Is not at all for dry lips.
• Lip balm is a necessity with this lipstick.
IMBB Rating: 2.5/5
Will I Repurchase/Recommend Lakme OM12 Enrich Matte Lipstick?
I might try out a few deeper shades. I would not recommend this shade to medium to dark skin tones. The shade is nice but the quality is bad.
