Lakme Pure Rouge Blush in Ginger Surprise and Avon True Color Blush in Peche

Lakme Pure Rouge Blush in Ginger Surprise and Avon True Color Blush in Peche

This one is for you Rati! When Ki asked the IMBB gang what lakme products she can take with her abroad, we all came up with fab selections for her. I had to think a little though, as lakme can be very disappointing though at times. Not to mention the prices they increase almost overnight. Some products still are safe to be picked up on recommendations. My pick for her was one such blusher in ginger surprise. One of the blogs had mentioned its resemblance to nars orgasm but frankly have no idea. I don’t wear blushes everyday simply because of fear of braking out and also I do not find it appropriate to wear a blush everywhere I go. But I just love the thought of blushes and can’t stop buying more, I don’t wear blushes on the apples but rather I locate the jaw bone and wear a light color over the jaw line and if it’s a darker color, I wear it in the hollow. That’s the max for me and I go absolutely easy on matte blushes. Less is def more for blushes unless u want to look like u just came back from a jog all red and flushed on the face. These are two blushes totally different from each other.

Price (can’t remember but 300 to 400 rs I believe, sorry) for 6 gram

Lakme Pure Rouge Blusher - Ginger Surprise

What the pack says: a pure pressed powder blusher provides sheer and lightweight application.color builds layer after layer without heavy coverage. Enhances cheekbones with a luminous silky matte finish.

The packaging : I love the packaging. It covers with a outer carton which you can slide off . The inner case of heavy plastic looks very nice and protective of the contents .it comes with pretty transparent and purple kinda casing.  the case is heavy and unlike other lighter packs of cosmetics. I believe it is very much like the lakme eye shadow quads in packaging. 4 on 5

The brush : no comments, it’s a flat brush and I have no idea how one is supposed to apply blush with it . It may be used to mark the hollow or jawbone because the brush is flat and straight. It has plastic bristles.

The color: the color of the blush is unlike any I have seen or I have. It’s very pretty coral rust type of color with sheen and has the shimmer of a bronzer, the color is no where close to pinks or peaches but a totally pretty earthy color for Indian skin. I think the sheerness and the luminous effect it gives can be compared to a bronzer. It looks amazing for evening and just a hint over the hollow to enhance and highlight the cheek is enough.

Lakme Pure Rouge Blusher - Ginger Surprise

The color is not matte and will look best when not used on the apple but directly on the cheek bones. The color is soft and there can be fall out on the face  if u don’t pat the excess off the brush. It comes out sheer and can be really built if needed. I totally recommend it for all Indian skins. If oily skin do not want the luminous sheen it gives, u can skip it or mattify with pressed powder. I will rock dry skin and normal skin giving it a healthy glow.

Lakme Pure Rouge Blusher - Ginger Surprise

It is kinda like that highlight that Rati wore (chanel I guess) and we all went gaga over it saying her skin looked luminous and fresh, its very comparable to that color. It is very silky but for oily skin it may cake up in 4 hours. Needs to be blended well. Cant say about breaking up as I don’t wear it daily and I have acne prone and oily skin. 🙁

Availability: I believe it is still available at lakme counters but have no idea with  what collection it was out. :-*:-*:-*

Avon true color blush

About the blush:

It a matte peachy pink color. I do not find it smooth enough but good enough for the sale price of 199 Rs. It is semi smooth and comes out very lightly pigmented on the cheeks. It may not suit dark skinned people and dry skinned people may find it drying and doing nothing for adding sheen. the color is not very pigmented and will go light on the skin. It will disappear in 4 to 5 hours . it will need blending well .on the plus side, it’s a very wearable color for everyday and will never look over the top. It will not cake up on oily skin. good color for the apple of the cheeks. Cant say about breaking up as I don’t wear it daily and I have acne prone and oily skin. 🙁

Packaging: I love the dark glossy black case it comes with, there s an oval mirror inside and the case is classy enough to carry along. There is also an outer carton packing for it.5 on 5

The brush: It has animal hair and I find it scratchy. 🙁

  1. A Fair review Neha… I used to have this Lakme Blush.. It was from the Bridal Sutra range.. And when i bought it (Almost a year back) it was Rs. 275/-.

It broke just after a month of buying.. But it was my fault as i had dropped it.. :silly: :silly: It was too messy after that.. So I threw it away.

But loovvved the colour a lot then.. :inlove: :inlove: I wanted to see it on you though.. 😉 :-* :-*

    1. oily skin worries
      closeups would be 😮 😮
      ladies will run away 😀

          1. Nice review.. I’ve not tried any of the blushes but would like to try Lakme 🙂 … N I’ll also join the oily skin gang 😀

  2. The Ginger Surprise surely looks very nice!!! I am tempted to try that :-* It is still available…not discontinued as I saw this at the counter just last weekend.

IMO, it is nowhere close to the Nars Orgasm blush..I dont own one but have seen many pics on various sites and dont find this anywhere close to that….

The avon one didnt quite attract me 🙁 though the packaging def looks good but somehow not as appealing to me

    1. just what i feel
yaaa i read on some indian blog that it is similar to nars
but i have no clue at all what nars one is like
      good u told me

  3. the lakme brush looks like a toy brush. my sister used to have a toy makeup kit which had a brush of plastic bristles 😛
    nice review

    1. :-)) ya
as a matter of fact i had thrown the brush some where
had to look all over to take pics for the reveiw
its good for nothing and does not pick up color at all on the bristles
they should come up brush less stuff…

      1. yeh wouldn’t be so good if they start selling blushes without a brush since we don’t use half of them anyway. It would cost less also :-))

    1. ya the color looks amazing though
i am not sure whether true to its name
      but no sheen…totally matte
packaging is so nice with a gloss to it

  4. Can someone from the experts do a tut on blush application ?? though I dont look like a clown when I use one…just want to learn the technique from the pros 🙂

  5. Neha thanks aton for the review. Loved the lakme’s blush shade and avon’s blush is super cute. Actually loving pale pink shades these days. :))

    I think I’ll pick up Lakme soon. Geeeeeeeeee… 😀

  6. it is peachy pink in color, with golden shimmer to it , the shimmer is not obvious but it too looks luminous like the ginger suprise one.You can read abt it here, 😉

  7. Hey neha, the Pure Rouge Blush in Ginger Surprise is so pretty na.. i difinately buy this. hx dear for the review. :-))
but yaar wanted to c u with this on… 🙁

  8. I have the lakme blush in peach affair and I’m so disappointed with it.I need a lot of product to show up on my skin and it disappears within an hour or so.Agreed I didn’t use primer or anything but my jordana blush lasts a good 4 hours on my oily skin.

  9. you know i’ve heard SO much about this blush but i keep wondering whether it’s worth spending so much money on lakme, especially since the colorbar blushes cost only 250 bucks. also, i like my blushes to be either square or round in shape (brush picks up the product much more evenly)
but now that you’ve raved about this product too, i just might get it. lakme eyeshadows work very well for me so i guess this will be very pigmented too.

  10. Neha – nice review. got the Lakme one. yes its super cute for the price. My friend had gotten it when they launched and was raving abt the sheerness and the shimmer. for sometime after i got i thought it was dark, but its nice now 🙂 its a beautiful mixture of bronze, peach and gold shimmer.
I think its fairly pigmented! I sometimes use it even for contouring.
Agree with Rima – Square and Round is way better.

  11. Great review Neha! I love the Lakme blush…how gorgeous is that color?
Too bad about the brush 😛 Sometimes I wonder why they put them in there? Such a waste of space and resources when we could just use a tissue to put the product on instead of their “brushes.”
Btw…as a fellow oily skinned person, I am sure you can’t wait for fall. Temperatures gonna get cooler, makeup is going to last longer, aah bliss! 🙂

  12. Hey Neha, nice reviews, you have introduced me to so many Avon products and I am eager to try what all you reviewed…..liked the Lakme’s color though…. :-))
