Lakme Shadow Artist Shimmer Sticks are chubby cream eyeshadow pencils. They have very fine sheen to them. No obvious glitter, which is pretty good.

What I like about Lakme Shadow Artist Shimmer Stick :

  • These are probably the easiest cream shadows I have used so far. The pencil design makes the application super easy. It’s just like colouring your eyelids with colourful crayons. πŸ˜€
  • They are very very creamy. No tugging of your eye lids at all.
  • The shadow sticks are amazingly pigmented. One swipe of colour is enough to cover your entire lid.
  • The outer covering of the pencil is coloured on the same colour as the shadow stick so they are easy to store. They also have transparent caps so I would say that the packaging is not only pretty but very thoughtful as well.
  • The shimmer in these shadow sticks is very fine so you don’t feel any grittiness while applying them.
  • These blend beautifully both with finger tips or your eyeshadow brushes.
  • I have never used them on waterline but while working with these sometime they went on my waterline as well but these caused no irritation to my eyes at all.
  • They are quite versatile. you cna sue these as eyeliner and smudge them or as a base to your not-so-pigmented eye shadows.

What I don’t like about Lakme Shadow Artist Shimmer Stick

  • These smudge, smear , crease and disappear after a while if worn alone on lids. Even with an eyeshadow base they crease very badly. :(( The only way to make these work is to apply an eyeshadow primer, then apply shadow stick and thenΒ  set these with an eyeshadow. Even with eye shadows, these crease after a few hours. Not as badly but these do crease.
  • Okay you are not supposed to smell these but these have a funny smell to them. πŸ˜›
  • These can be sharpened using the Lakme Duo Sharpener.

As much as I’d wanted to be impressed by these, I don’t think I am.

These best way to use these I feel is use it as an eyeliner and then softly smudge it using a blue eyeshadow.

Here is the EOTD. I applied MAC Painterly paint pot as base, then setting it with powder so as to control any extra oil on my lids and then applied Lakme Shadow Artist Shimmer Stick Astral Blue very closely to my waterline. I blended it upward using a fluffy eyeshadow brush. On the inner corner of the lids, i applied the lightest shade from Lakme Eyeshadow Quartet – Botanica. On waterline I have used MAC Chromagraphic Pencil. Curled lashes and applied mascara.

And this is how it looks after 10-15 minutes- creased and faded . πŸ™ It would have stayed longer (around 3-4 hours without creasing) if I had applied powder eyeshadow on top of it but on their own, these shadow sticks fail badly.

      1. I must compliment you….

U have beautiful deep eyes…. :inlove: :inlove: :inlove: :inlove: :inlove: :inlove: :inlove:

just too beautiful…. waise yeh aapki aankhon ki gehraiyon se kaun jhaank raha hai…

  1. Awesome review..Even I found these to crease like crazy…hardly any point in using them as eyeshadows in fact…M planning on using this as an eyeliner and kajal (since it doesnt irritate my waterline..) but i loooooove how pigmented these pencils are.. :beauty: :beauty:

    1. Zara yes that’s the best thing to do. As eye shadows I don’t think these are the best things to use. :)) Don’t irritate my eyes as well. Me likes that. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

      1. I know! I picked up the Kiss of a rose cheek artist and I never wear blush to class but today for the first I did. It looks so natural! Same with lippy. #133 looks MLBB on me and I wore it today ! Generally I stick to lip balm for college. I’m definitely picking up more stuff from this collection!

          1. Cali I saw #131 on you..looks very pretty! It might be a little light for me..I’m loving the 133 now and thinking of going back to have another look at the others πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ Did you try the cheek artist ?

        1. That lipstick is gorgeous Ankita. i am going to pick up kiss of rose blush myself. I like it more than peach. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

  2. It’s so pretty naa otherwise….blue one, that is. Me didn’t like the green one cos well it won’t look good on me, I think…errr…awful EOTD πŸ˜› πŸ˜› πŸ˜› Waise I think the colour suits you..is it kind of like a lighter brighter siahi??

      1. hee hee hee..then greeny will become greener!! :green: :green: :green: :green: :green: :green: :green: :green: :green: :green: :green: :green: :green: :green: :green: :green: :green:

  3. Such pretty shades..I’ve starry night!! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ ..but I also felt the problem with staying power and the texture doesn’t set at all….not even after a couple of minutes and gives me blue panda eyes, when it starts to fade away!! 😐 😐

    1. But I don’t use it like this..he he..I simply use it as an eyeliner, smudge it and then set it with powder…. I :tremble: to think how it would look on me after an hour, if I apply it the way you’ve done…

      1. cali yeah the best way to use these is eyeliner style only. What’s with the claim then ” Edge, smudge, line, shadow, color or blend. ” :hunterwali: :hunterwali: :hunterwali: :hunterwali: :hunterwali: :hunterwali:

        1. er…they have over expected their product!! :(( :(( I couldn’t dare to use it as eyeshadow base, when I saw how quickly it was fading and spreading mess around my eyes as smudged liner only!! πŸ˜› πŸ˜› πŸ˜›

            1. lol..he he he..the product is same na….just the shades are different!! πŸ˜› πŸ˜› ..hey rati..please update in this review na..at the end that you need to buy lakme duo sharpner to sharpen these, coz the usual ones don’t fit them…I have revlon sharpner and it couldn’t sharpen this fat pencil!! πŸ™

  4. these r meant to b used s e/s base only i think rati… these luk like copies of nyx jumbo eye pencils, they’ve made   .. but the color is luking kewlll on u..

    1. Mrun, you can make these work as eyeliners- soft smudgy look. But then I feel both chambor and colorbar make eye pencil in the similar blue colour with better staying power. These are cute but not impressive.

  5. OMG….it has creased and faded badly na 😯 😯 😯 😯 😯 😯
even on painterly it did not stay πŸ™
I think without powder e/s on top they will crease badly so I am now skeptical of getting them ?:) ?:) ?:)

      1. and mine are oily lids…..so I guess the staying power reduces more….I am definitely staying away…. :tremble: :tremble: :tremble: :tremble: :tremble:
Btw I ordered my CS palette….I hope I get it soon :zombiekiller: :zombiekiller: :zombiekiller:

          1. I told my friend to buy gift voucher for me…..and I transferred cash in her account…hehe :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:
            I don’t yet have CC :((

            1. yeah..thats why I was wondering!! πŸ˜› πŸ˜› Cool idea..! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ I ordered one 88 palette from “The Brush Company” and now waiting for it to come!! :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

              1. yeahhh…..now we both wait for 88 palette……… :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

  6. errrr…i actually didnt like it so much….am sure if i use it as a liner also its going to fade pretty quick…but the colors are beauty…. :jiggy2: :jiggy2: :jiggy2: :jiggy2:

  7. me happppyyyy these didnt workkk … i was going crazzzyy for the biloooo one πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€
now only cheek artist i will buy :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

  8. so pretty..but my lids are oily as it is…..this would toh go down to my cheeks if i applied them… :weep: :weep: :weep: :weep: :weep:
btw, Your eyes are SO PRETTY!! perfect almond shape… :woot: :woot: :woot: :woot:

      1. Hi Ramya, I have Starry night and I use them as eyeliner only, but only after smudging them and setting them with powder. Else they’d smudge and fade away and wouldn’t look good..The staying power is really bad!! :((

        1. oww….. i would get them anyway cos the colors are so damn pretty… πŸ˜› πŸ˜› πŸ˜›
thanks for the help Cali!!

  9. Someone around me is eating bread omelette and making me hungry again..the smell is sooo intoxicating!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    1. not worth it anks.. you cna do the same thing using a colorbar i glide pencil or the chambor one… I like smudgy pencils but this is way too much smudge..

      1. thanks… does cheek artist accentuate pores? i am hating my current blushes coz they do. lakme powder blush in rose (discontinued) and maybelline powder blush in apricot flush

  10. :)) As i said earlier, i dont like pencils who need sharpening so i will definately avoid them :fart: :fart: .. Avon Glimmersticks E/L are far better then this.. :happydance: :happydance: :happydance: :happydance:

  11. The colors are so awesome! i am gona pick nyx jumbo pencils soon can someone recommend what colors to go for..? And also any recommendation for golden pencil?

  12. I just wanted to tel Rati di this.Because of IMBB i am so madly in love with blushes.I was never a blush person before.Recently bought a faces blush and love it πŸ™‚ thank you for making me love blushes πŸ™‚

  13. Hi Rati,
I am new to beauty products and their uses but I think I can suggest a remedy for this one… what I do with these creamy pencils is… I apply a matte powder eyeshadow of the same color and then apply the shimmersticks… this way the powder e/s absorbs the moisture but lets the shimmer and color show from the shimmersticks…less fading and creasing this way. sometimes i use contrast powder e/s as well and the results are good… maybe u shud give it a try..

  14. Rati- this looks sooo good on u…. too bad it didnt work- I was so tempted to get these looking at the pics πŸ™
btw- ur piccy is sho cute πŸ˜€
