Lakmé Sun Expert Fairness + UV Lotion SPF 30 PA ++ Normal to Dry Skin Review

Summers are already knocking the doors and so I am going to review a sunscreen that would be perfect for the heat. I had purchased this sunscreen tube during last summers randomly from a local shop. Actually that day, I had forgotten to apply the sunscreen and I realized this only once, I was out in the sun. I purchased this without much thought and applied it on my way. There is a variant of it for oily skin which has been already reviewed on IMBB. The one I am reviewing is for normal to dry skin.

Price:
It is available in 2 sizes-Rs.200 for 50 ml and Rs. 400 for 100 ml.

Shelf life:
It is not mentioned on the tube. Only “use before” date is printed on the crimp.

Packaging:
The packaging is quite compact and travel-friendly. It comes in a bright yellow tube in 2 sizes. I have the smaller one, which can be easily carried in the purse.

My experience with Lakmé Sun Expert Fairness + UV Lotion SPF 30 PA ++ Normal to Dry Skin:

It is a white cream, slightly thicker than a lotion. I usually pour a coin-sized amount on my palm and then dip my finger in it and apply it all over my face, neck and hands. On first application, it would be whitish but once massaged well, it would become transparent on the skin.

This one is specially designed for dry skin and does its job well. This not only provides a matte-look but also provides enough moisturization for the day. I do not need an additional layer of moisturizer under it. I have used Lakme sunscreen lotion (the one with SPF 24) with which I have to use a layer of moisturizer otherwise dry flakes become visible on my face. There is no such problem with this one, though! So a thumbs up on the moisturization part!

The product claims to provide fairness which is not true, obviously! I am starting to think that may be the manufacturers just add the “fairness” bit on the bottle so that more people get attracted to it and buy it. However, the other claim to provide even skin tone is true. It does even out the skin tone for me and it remains so for the entire day.

The SPF 30 is pretty good for everyday use for a person like me, who stays indoors for the most part of the day. I had also used this sunscreen in Goa last December and the sun protection it provided was pretty good. So that way, I have tested it outdoors too. Also, I have layered BB cream on top of it often and it did not break me out. I have not tried any heavy makeup with it on, so would not be able to comment on that. Apart from this, I do not know how well it would work in severe tropical sun, since I have used it in places with a moderate warm climate.
Overall, it is a good sunscreen lotion for normal to dry skin and is perfect for both everyday use and for the days you are out in the sun.
