My Experience with Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge Lipstick – Prune Amethyste:

Packaging: It comes in an elegant, sleek packaging with a glossy black-coloured case and cap; the lipstick tube comes in a silver-coloured cardboard box. The cap has a magnetic clasp that closes firmly with a click.

This is my second product from Lancôme. Having bought their nail lacquer, I felt like trying their lipstick which is claimed to have a very good formula for the lips. From a variety of 31 shades, as usual I got attracted to the pink/purple group. Prune Amethyste is a bright pink shade with a hint of sparkle in it and looks beautiful. In my opinion, this shade is similar to the colour of bright pink bougainvillea flowers. It can be worn during daytime, as well as evening outings. This shade can be used for regular wear to office and even special occasions.

This lipstick is infused with moisture-boosting pro-xylane and antioxidant-rich vitamin E. I really like the formula of this lipstick; it goes on smoothly and gives a silky, satiny feeling to the lips. It has a classic rose scent and typical lipstick taste. Once you get used to this scent, you may not sense it anymore. However, if you are adverse to lipsticks that have scent or taste, please check it out before purchasing. It does not irritate or dry my sensitive lips.

Unlike many other lipsticks, I do not need to use a lip balm underneath or in advance. It tends to spread and transfer a lot, if applied directly with the lipstick tube without using a lipliner or lip brush. I first outline my lips with Clinique quickliner for intense lips in punch and then use a lip brush to apply this lipstick. You can also try Lancôme’s method of application, by applying lipstick on the back of the hand and then dabbing the lipstick on your lips using the ring figure and it will stay put, no spreading or transferring. This shade has intense pigmentation and is long lasting. Even after drinking and eating, it does not fade out much, and leaves a stain. I adore this shade and I am extremely pleased with the performance and staying power of this product. Last but not the least, it has SPF 12; hence, it is very apt for daytime use.
