Think vitamin C and yummy citrus fruits would come to your mind. Juicy, tangy and oh-so-pretty to look at.  Actually, its my fantasy to soak in a tub full of orange juice. That seems a distant dream, but at least, I can treat my skin with the goodness of vitamin C. Well, that was the idea behind the purchase of “Lancome Resurface C Microdermabrasion Face Radiance Renewing Vitamin C Serum” (phew would need a mnemonic to remember that :P). So, I was researching ways of brightening my skin (wish there was something like pitambari :P) and I came to the conclusion after scouring over countless Google searches that vitamin C was the magic key to unlock the beauty within (just couldn’t help the cliché :D).

Now, all I needed was a simple way to include the magic potion in my so-called beauty regimen.  Now, at this stage, I have to confess that I had never heard of Lancome before. Even on my umpteen visits to Lifestyle, I had never noticed the brand (always used to just walk past the shiny, expensive looking makeup counters without a glance).  Then, my new roomate got a lip gloss from Lancome worth Rs. 1800!! My eyes just popped out because the maximum I had spent on any makeup was Rs. 120 for a kajal. So, I was quite curious about the brand and tagged along with her when she next went there. I was so impressed (don’t know by the brand or the cute guy at the counter who by the way did awesome free makeup for me) that I vowed to buy something from the brand soon.

Microdermabrasion

Within a few days, this product was on sale on fashionandyou. I grabbed this oppurtunity thinking it was some divine intervention and ordered two of these tubes.  I was quite gung-ho when I used the first tube, I was a serum virgin. I had never used one before, so had nothing to compare against. It seemed like a good product and it still is. The only grouse I had was that immediately after application, my face would resemble a frying pan, but since it is supposed to be used in the night, it was not a major con for me. Anyway, it gets absorbed in a while (like 15-20 minutes), till then just avoid brother/boyfriend/husband or any other male species who will point and laugh and crack wicked jokes (my brother was particularly mean :-X).

Details

Though you might sleep looking like you might need pril/vim (kadi se kadi chiknaayi fame) the next day, but rest assured, the result the morning after is soft, supple skin. The brightening or radiance boost claim is a bit far fetched, but the skin does look even toned.

The serum is the second step in the microdermabrasion kit from Lancome, but can be used as a standalone as well. It is white in colour, but oxidises to a pale yellow and has a lotion-like consistency. The fragrance is nice and floral. While vitamin C products are supposed to sting a bit (like when you apply lemon), but this serum does not sting raising my doubts that probably the concentration of the vitamin is not strong enough. The package says that it is 5% concetration and a quick Google search confirmed that there are products with higher concentration available in the market. I want to add here further that vitamin C is supposed to make the skin photosensitive (i.e., skin will get tanned easily and the sun damage might be more, in layman terms) and should always be used in night or along with a sunblock when used in the daytime.

Ingredients:

Water, Glycerin, Cyclopentasiloxane, Nylon-12, Vitamin C, Phenyl Trimethicone, Propylene Glycol, Apricot Kernal Oil. Dimethicone, PEG/PPG-18 Dimethicone, Sodium Hydroxide, Citric Acid, Dimethiconol, Panthenol, Linalool, Propylparaben, Alpha-isomethyl Ionone, Disodium EDTA, Methyparaben, Citronellol, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Fragrance.

Cost:

Rs. 500 (from fashionandyou.com) or $18 according to amazon.com

Pros of Lancome Resurface-C Microdermabrasion Kit:

  • Makes the skin supple and even toned.
  • Convenient tube packaging.
  • Pleasant, non-lingering floral fragrance.
  • Three drops are enough to cover the entire face.
  • In spite of the greasiness, it never broke me out.

Cons of Lancome Resurface-C Microdermabrasion Kit:

  • Greasy as soon as you apply.
  • Takes time to get absorbed.
  • The serum tends to spill out as you open the pointy cap and you have to be careful about that or it might be wasted.
  • Oxidizes quickly, so one should never leave the cap open for a long time.

IMBB Rating:

3/5 (it helped to an extent except for the greasiness).

Will I Buy Lancome Resurface-C Microdermabrasion Kit Again?

I am already on my second tube now, but I will not re-purchase it as I want to explore better products.

Artists` water colours are one of the best watercolours to use – I have this set too 😛 Good to know you paint :yahoo: This seems to be similar to Dr Reddy`s Vitamin C and kojic acid cream for improving the complexion – it worked like a charm for me ,the Reddy`s Clearz i mean :yahoo: very entertaining review btw :yahoo:
