Lancome Rose Rendez-Vous #230M Rouge in Love Lipstick Review

I will be reviewing four lipstick shades from Lancome next, which I received as gifts quite some time back. I can say that this was my first foray into luxury store makeup, apart from MAC. I was extremely disappointed that I would not be accompanying my husband during a trip abroad since it was the winters of 2013, and taking our small infant along seemed a bit too much.  Anyway, my hubby, sensing my disappointment got me these lipsticks during that trip. I had heard a lot about these lipsticks and these were a complete rage around that time. I used it that winter, and during last spring. And now, with the arrival of spring, I have found my lost love in these, and giving them preferential treatment for my day time wear.

Product Description:

A high-potency, featherweight lip color that lasts up to six hours. This radiant lip color lasts for hours, has the look of a brilliant gloss but delivers the comfort and soothing qualities of a balm. Categorized by mood, the collection includes: “Jolis Matins” or “pretty morning,” a range of ready-to-wear, fresh day shades that add brilliance to the lips due to the precious mother-of-pearls; “Boudoir Time,” trendy, punchy, evening-appropriate “it” shades that give color to the lips thanks to the intense contrasted mother-of-pearls; and “Tonight is My Night,” sophisticated, pure intense shades to give depth to lips for a deep lacquered effect and luminous color created by gold mother-of-pearl. This product provides medium to full coverage and high color pay-off. Long-wearing color is formulated with a new generation of polymer. Shiny silicone creates brilliance of a gloss.  Shades can be identified by a letter in the shade number that denotes each of the three categories: “Jolis Matins” shades are identified with the letter M, “Bourdoir Time” shades are identified with the letter B, and “Tonight is My Night” shades are identified with the letter N in the shade number.

My Experience with Lancome Rose Rendez-Vous #230M Rouge in Love Lipstick:

This shade belongs to the group of Jolis Matins or the “pretty morning time” shades.  These lipsticks were made by Lancome, bringing together pigmented lipsticks, with the formula of shine and gloss and hydration. These are fresh day-time shades. Which add brilliance to the lips due to precious mother-of-pearls.These are some of the best formula I have used; and that is the reason why I keep coming back to it again and again. The shades are pretty, spring-like; though can be worn throughout the year.

Packaging:

It comes in a silver-colored box packaging; on which all details are written. The lipstick case is also silver in color, with a broad base. The two parts shut with a satisfying click. The metal case is not color coded, hence you will not be able to differentiate the shades from outside. The bullet inside has an oval tip which fits with the curvature of the lips. Overall, the packaging is aesthetically, quite pleasing.

Color/Pigmentation:  The bullet inside has superb pigmentation. The shade 230M is a pinkish beige color, which is a perfect daytime office-going shade for all women. For some, it may even be their MLBB shade, though it looks a bit darker on me. The lipstick has a lovely rose fragrance, which disappears after a few minutes. Kudos to my hubby for selecting such a lovely shade for me.

Formula: As I have already mentioned, I am a big fan of these lipsticks. It has shine and hydration, just like any other sheer lipstick; however, the pigmentation is much more. It is very suitable for the spring months, since all the shades, even the darker ones, have a slight softness to them. The lipstick needs to be swiped 2-3 times for full coverage; however, it never seems cakey on the lips. It does not sit on the lip lines, It has never bled on me. Even during summers, it stays totally intact and does not melt. It moisturises and hydrates the lips. It does not have any shimmery particles as such. It does not make the lips glossy as such, but provides a soft sheen.

Staying Power:  It lasts for 5-6 hours without meals. Since it is a natural shade, it does not stain the lips much. On taking some snacks, it does get wiped off a bit, and a full meal will wipe it off completely.  It does transfer onto glasses and cups, but only very slightly.

• Does not settle into lip lines.
• Lasts for 5-6 hours, without food.
• Does not transfer much.
• Non-staining lip color.

Cons of Lancome Rose Rendez-Vous #230M Rouge in Love Lipstick:

• Expensive.
• Limited availability in India.
• Gets rubbed off with food.
• Shades cannot be determined from outside.

Yes, I will. This is one of the best formula I have ever used, gifted to me by my beloved. I have so fallen in love with these soft lipsticks, I still turn to them now and again, especially when the spring is upon us.
