Lancome Rose’Mantic 232M Rouge in Love Lipstick Review

Hi Beauties,

Today, I will be reviewing my last Lancome lipsticks, which my husband had got for me some time back. While I liked three of the shades which he got me, this one was not to my liking. His thought behind buying this was so simple because the shade is named Rosemantic (romantic). When I started telling him all about milky pink and cool toned and washing me out, he gave me such a lost look, it was almost comical. Oh dear, what a husband I have… so exasperating, yet so sweet!!

LANCOME ROUGE IN LOVE LIPSTICK ROSEMANTIC

About the product:

A high-potency, featherweight lip color that lasts up to six hours. This radiant lip color lasts for hours, has the look of a brilliant gloss but delivers the comfort and soothing qualities of a balm. Categorized by mood, the collection includes: “Jolis Matins” or “pretty morning,” a range of ready-to-wear, fresh day shades that add brilliance to the lips due to the precious mother-of-pearls; “Boudoir Time,” trendy, punchy, evening-appropriate “it” shades that give color to the lips thanks to the intense contrasted mother-of-pearls; and “Tonight is My Night,” sophisticated, pure intense shades to give depth to lips for a deep lacquered effect and luminous color created by gold mother-of-pearl.

This product provides medium to full coverage and high color pay-off. Long-wearing color is formulated with a new generation of polymer. Shiny silicone creates brilliance of a gloss.

Shades can be identified by a letter in the shade number that denotes each of the three categories: “Jolis Matins” shades are identified with the letter M, “Bourdoir Time” shades are identified with the letter B, and “Tonight is My Night” shades are identified with the letter N in the shade number.

My Experience with Lancome Rose’Mantic 232M Rouge in Love Lipstick:

This shade belongs to the group of Jolis Matins; or the pretty morning time shades. These lipsticks were made by Lancome, bringing together pigmented lipsticks, with the formula of shine, gloss and hydration. These are fresh day-time shades. Which add brilliance to the lips due to precious mother-of-pearls. These are some of the best formula I have used and that is the reason why I keep coming back to it again and again. The shades are pretty, spring-like, though can be worn throughout the year.

Packaging: It comes in a silver colored box packaging, on which all details are written. The lipstick case is also silver in color, with a broad base. The two parts shut with a satisfying click. The metal case are not color coded, hence you will not be able to differentiate the shades from outside. The bullet inside has an oval tip, which fits with the curvature of the lips. Overall, the packaging is aesthetically quite pleasing.

Bullet: Now starts the sad part. This shade is a cool toned, very light, milky pink color, which almost disappears on my lips. It is not at all flattering on me. Besides, it has got a lot of minute silver-ish micro-shimmer in it. It is the shimmer which almost makes the color seen on the lips. Pigmentation is quite average and multiple swipes still gives a very sheer shade, even on my arm swatch. The lipstick has a lovely rose fragrance, which disappears after a few minutes.

Formula: I am not even fond of the formula. It does not feel gritty on the lips. However, it is not as hydrating as the other lipsticks of this range. It actually emphasises all the patchy and dry areas of my lips, and will need a good exfoliation prior to application. It has a shine, which is not due to hydration, but rather due to the shimmer particles in it. The lipstick needed to be swiped 2-3 times to even start showing up on my lips. Multiple layering gives it a very cakey look. It does not sit on the lip lines, It has never bled on me.

Lasting time: It lasts hardly for 1-2 hours, and then gets wiped off. Thankfully, the shimmer also gets wiped off along with the color, and does not make my face look like a disco ball. On taking some snacks, it gets swiped off completely. It does transfer onto glasses and cups, but only very slightly.

  1. Sad it didn’t work out dear :(.. this is so not for an Indian skin tone..or at least most of them.

And regarding explaining about cool-toned, milky pink .. ha ha I can imagine.. ditto with my hubby. Same goes for colors. When I try explaining about different shades of red.. he gives me this lost look he he.. like really are-u-dissecting-the-color kind of look .. funny it is. Red is just red and blue is just blue for him.

  2. I was loving the shade in the bullet but the swatches did full justice to what a deceiving shade it really is 🙁 I have been fallen to this a few times 😀 I guess most of the international brands don’t create shades keeping in mind our in depth skin tones, as you would see many of these shades look very beautiful on Caucasian skin. 🙂
