I believe that one can never have too much of a clean facial skin. Even those who are gifted with incredibly beautiful and smooth skin will never take skin care for granted. Aside from being the first part of our personality to be seen by anyone, our faces are a good indication of our character, strength, and even confidence. A good example is during a job interview. A composed, collected and radiant face oozing with self-confidence and evident sign of good health is a decent indication of a good shot at the job being bid for.
As makeups give us that good, finished look, it is a must that the same should be removed from our faces before bedtime. Giving our facial pores a chance to heal and breath during sleep will not be possible if these are clogged with dirt and makeups. And of course, we all know that this will result to unsightly breakouts.
In my personal quest to having and making sure to maintain clean facial skin, I am always on the look out for innovative products to help me in my pursuit. This lead to my latest addition in my skin care regimen – Laneige Power Essential Skin Refiner Light.
But first, what is the difference between a toner and a skin refiner? Actually, they just have the same job – they help clarify the skin and because it is watery, a cotton pad is almost always used to apply. It is just that Asians, specifically Koreans, call it “skin refiners” while “toners” are what it is commonly called in the US.
One thing that really caught my attention when using this product is the scent. Unlike any other toners or skin refiners that I have used, it doesn’t have any hint of sting. I remember one time that I have also used one with alcohol in it! That is why we should always be cautious of what the product contains before we try it on. One ingredient in the product did catch my attention because I was not familiar with it: niacinamide. A quick Internet search says that niacinamide is a form of niacin which helps prevent peeling red skin, so that puts my worries to rest.
I started using Laneige Power Essential Skin Refiner Light a couple of weeks ago as part of my night time routine and I always feel refreshed after using it. My skin always feel softer after use and I like how it does not even irritate my eyes whenever I swipe the cotton pad with the product around my eye area.
I am impressed with the bottle, although I have to admit that I thought the top part pops open because of the round-ish, dome-like silvery tip inside the bottle cap, until I discovered it is just part of the cap. Let’s just say I managed to drop the bottle in the process and I am so glad that I did not break the bottle. I would have shed tears because I bought this for $25.00 at Target.
What I like about Laneige Power Essential Skin Refiner Light:
• Mild scent.
• Non-irritating, even when used around the eye area.
• Easy to apply and use.
• No alcohol content.
• Works really well as a cleaner after washing the face without making the skin dry and dull.
What I do not like about Laneige Power Essential Skin Refiner Light:
• Maybe a little more lingering scent while applying the product? Just a thought but I find myself looking for a very relaxing and distinct smell as I start feeling refreshed whenever I swipe the cotton pad loaded with Laneige Skin refiner on my face.
• It would also be nice if they have this particular variant in a smaller bottle, like travel sized ones. I have yet to see one (if any of you have seen one, please let me know!) This 200 mL of bottle is a little challenging to bring on overnight trips. Definitely not light!
To wrap this up, this product is one of the reasons why this brand is among my favorites. I also noticed that somehow, a stray pimple or two heals up faster after I started using Laneige Power Essential Skin Refiner Light. I highly recommend this product for those who are still on the look out to complete their day time and night time beauty routine. As always, practice caution and make sure that you get your dermatologist’s okay before starting any new product.
Good luck in your quest, ladies!
