Laneige Special Care Lip Sleeping Mask Apple Lime Review

Hi everyone,

My lips get chapped all the time in summer as well as in winters. Though I use lip balm frequently, I have to reapply it often to pamper my lips. And during winters, even thick oil disappears from my lips. So, I decided to try this very popular product from Laneige called Laneige Special Care Lip Sleeping Mask Apple Lime. Here comes the complete review:

My Experience with Laneige Special Care Lip Sleeping Mask Apple Lime:

I have been a great fan of Laneige Water Sleeping masks and that’s why I also wanted to try their lip sleeping masks as well to take care of my dry lips. This is a sleeping mask and not a lip balm and it comes in four flavours – The Original Berry, Grapefruit, Vanilla and Apple Lime.

Laneige Special Care Lip Sleeping Mask Apple Lime with spatula

This “Apple Lime” variant comes in a bright green packaging. The colour of the packaging is the colour of the lip mask too! The fresh, unused product looks like a tub of green Vaseline, but the similarity ends there. The total quantity of the product is 20 gm, which is huge and you can justify the price of the product with the quantity and the quality. Along with the tub, Laneige has also provided a small spatula which is useful in scooping out the product as well as helpful for applying the product on to the lips. The spatula is pink in colour and same for all their variants irrespective of the colour of the tub or mask.

The brand suggests the product to be applied as a thick layer. As advised, I scoop out the product and apply a thick layer at night. Though the product looked solid, it melted into a cream-like consistency while applying. It is not watery or runny and stays put on the lips. Since the product is bright green, my lips look ashen after application.

If you are not okay imagining yourself looking sick with ash lips, then you might want to prefer the pink variant, but I don’t mind as it is a sleeping mask that’s meant to be applied night only.

In the morning, the product still remains intact on my lips. After washing it off, I can see that my lips have become so soft. The softness can be comparable to the lips you get after scrubbing, but better without the redness that you see with physical exfoliation.

One day, while using this mask, I had very dry lips and dead skin too. After applying it at night, the next day, I took a cotton pad and swiped off the mask from my lips. The dead skin came along with it like a peel-off! The brand claims exfoliating properties and I could see what they meant.

Overall, this mask claims to exfoliate and hydrate lips, and does both wonderfully, but to get the effect, you have to apply a thick layer. The product is perfumed and so the smell might not appeal to some, even though it smells like mint gum.

Also, after applying a thick layer, the product can get into your mouth sometimes if you are not careful enough. It won’t work as a lip balm and it is not meant to be used like that, but even if I try using a very thin layer over my lips, it doesn’t give the same compared to applying a thick layer.

So, to reap the benefits, I would suggest using a very thick layer only at night. Overall, it was a fantastic product and this one small tub will last me for almost an year! And I am glad that I made this purchase.

Cons of Laneige Special Care Lip Sleeping Mask Apple Lime:
