Laura Geller Rosewater Baked Gelato Vivid Swirl Blush Review

Hello everyone,

I am a huge fan of the Laura Geller Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator that I had reviewed here a while ago, hence I had high expectations when I picked up a blush in a similar format by Laura Geller. This review will be on the Laura Geller Baked Gelato Vivid Swirl Blush in the shade “Rosewater.”

Product Description:
Indulge in creamy swirls of Italian gelato with every application of Baked Gelato Vivid Swirl Blush. The fresh 3-D design captures the look of this decadent frozen treat, and lasts until the very last application! The innovative hybrid texture applies like a powder but feels like a cream, creating translucent, vibrant color for a flirty, natural-looking flush.

My Experience with Laura Geller Rosewater Baked Gelato Vivid Swirl Blush:

Packaging:  I love the simple plastic case which flips open to reveal a beautiful swirled baked blush. I like how the cap is transparent hence you can easily spot the color of the blush if you happen to own a few of the shades from this same like. I am not a fan of the domed cap as I feel it makes it difficult to store these blushes by stacking them on top of each other.

Texture:  This blush is a very densely packed blush, very similar in texture to the Clinique cheek pop blushes, which I wasn’t a huge fan of due to the lack of pigmentation, but luckily, these Laura Geller blushes are a hit with me. They do require a special kind of dense brush to pick up the product since they are so densely packed and a wispy brush just doesn’t work well with them.

My preferred brush to apply this blush is a retractable brush. I open the retractable brush halfway so it is still densely packed which helps pick up enough product and then I open the brush all the way down so that it is flexible and wispy enough to distribute the blush without streaking and this method seems to work great.

Pigmentation and Shade:  I was quite impressed with the pigmentation of this blush. They do apply sheer but they have buildable pigmentation and are easy to layer. It applied quite easily and evenly without streaking or looking patchy. It looks highly natural on the skin and has a feel and a slight translucent look on the skin reminiscent of a cream blush, but packs on color and feels just like a powder without any tackiness.

The shade “Rosewater” is a gorgeous medium rosy pink which looks very flattering on my light medium skin tone and gives a youthful, healthy boost to my complexion. It has the slightest amount of golden shimmer which is very fine and not really noticeable unless you look really closely on the skin. The finish it yields is a naturally glowing flushed skin. The shimmers do not accentuate pores or dry patches.

Staying Power:  This blush has amazing staying power. It wears for 7-8 hours before showing the slightest amount of fading which is basically the whole day for me.

Overall, I do really like this blush, but I wouldn’t say it is perfect for everyone. You may not love this if you have darker complexion as due to the translucent nature of the pigmentation it gives, you may find it lacking in vibrancy on your cheeks. Also, this blush contains shimmer, so if you are not a fan of shimmer, this may not be the right product for you.  On the other hand, if you like blushes which give a very natural-looking color to your cheeks with a subtle glow and are prepared to deal with a bit of a learning curve when it comes to application of this densely packed texture, you will love this.
