Hello Everyone,
This review will be on the Laura Mercier Stick Gloss in the shade Brown Sugar. I have also reviewed the shade Black Orchid from the same line.
About Laura Mercier Brown Sugar Stickgloss:
A sheer swipe of moisturizing color.
What it does:
This ultramoisturizing lip color is a cross between lip balm, lip color, and lip glace. It cares for your lips while delivering color in a sheer and sophisticated finish. Flawless and healthy-looking lips are just a swipe away!
What else you need to know:
This ultrahydrating product contains antioxidants; skin conditioners; and vitamins A, C, and E to support the natural production of collagen in the lips.
Price : $24
Ingredients:
Packaging:
This products comes in a traditional round lipstick tube. It looks kind of old fashioned and not very impressive.
Texture:
This stick gloss has gel-gloss like consistency. It goes super silky and smooth and makes the lips feel very hydrating from the first touch. It has a very lip balm like quality with it subtle shine which does not look too glossy but gives the lips a nice beautiful healthy pout.
Shade& Pigmentation:
The shade brown sugar is a very sheer mauve nude. It delivers very little to no color payoff on the lips. It will not be suited for pigmented lips as you can see your lips’ natural color quite clearly.
It does give my lips a nice even texture. It does not settle into fine line and keeps my lips hydrated throughout the wear time, which is a huge bonus for someone with constant dry chapped lips. This product makes a good topper for extra drying matte lipstick if you would like that dose of hydration.
Staying Power:
Staying power is not that great. The shine settles down and completely fades around 4-5 hours, but my lips do feel very hydrated even after it has faded. It fades quicker if you eat or drink anything.
Fragrance:
It has a light subtle scent, nothing overpowering.
Overall, I do like this product mainly because of the immensely hydrating texture and subtle shine. It makes my lips look smoother but this is not something I would prefer to wear outside. This product works more like a spare lip balm for me more than anything else. Hence, I do not think a price tag of $24 makes this product worth it. I will only recommend this if you are willing to splurge.
Pros of Laura Mercier Brown Sugar Stickgloss:
• Lightweight feeling on lips.
• Not sticky at all, also is non slippery.
• Makes the lips feels smooth and very hydrated.
• It does not settle in fine lines.
• Has subtle shine.
• Light pleasant scent.
Cons of Laura Mercier Brown Sugar Stickgloss:
• I do not like this very old/ not modern looking tube.
• Little to no color payoff.
• Will not be suitable for pigmented lips.
• Staying power is not that great.
• Needs to be reapplied constantly.
• I find a $24 price tag very high for a product which works just like any other lip balm.
IMBB Rating:
4/5
