Every holiday season brands come out with their holiday gift and value sets and they prove to be a total steal. They are budget friendly and you get to try various products at the price of one product. I always wanted to try Laura Mercier highlighters and this “Fall in Love” Illuminator palette which has four permanent highlighters in a single palette (Devotion, Seduction, Indiscretion, Addiction). Please note that though this palette is limited edition, the illuminator shades are permanent and you can buy them separately from stores or online.
Laura Mercier Face Illuminator Powders highlight the skin with pure light-reflecting pigments for a color-true, multidimensional, and luminous finish that complements all skintones. Its non-dusting texture allows for a buildable layer of shine—from a subtle highlight to a more intense level of luminosity. “I developed this product to help women create a radiant look for themselves using a performance makeup artist tool that allows a buildable layer of shine—from subtle illumination to extreme radiance.”—Laura Mercier.
My Experience with Laura Mercier Devotion, Seduction, Indiscretion, Addiction Face Illuminator Powder:
I was totally impressed with these powders. They are smooth and creamy to touch, they have shimmer (not glitters). The powders are finely milled and on skin, they look super natural and beautiful.
These shadows come in a compact and elegant looking leopard print plastic case with the shade name label on the back. Inside of the palette, a huge mirror is provided and four illuminator shades on the opposite side. These illuminators have a beautiful wave design engraved on them which looks stunning.
Addiction: It’s a gold highlight and will suit medium to deep skin tones. It is smooth and looks very natural on the skin. It is buildable and can never look over the top on the face. I like to even use this on the lid and it looks stunning. It’s a yellow gold shade. It looks very natural on the face, it’s like you are glowing from within. It is just slightly shimmery. The feel is extremely lightweight. It is a blendable formula and though it looks slightly shimmery in the pan, on the face, it comes out very natural. I use Real Techniques contouring blush to apply it. This highlighter does emphasize pores but the texture is creamy and smooth. I can also wear it comfortably over a blush. The lasting power is 7 to 8 hours. This highlighter goes smoothly on to the skin. The shimmer is finely milled and does not go patchy or uneven. I just need to go back and forth once. It imparts a nice sheen on the face. Also, it does not cling on to dry patches. This shade would be suitable for medium to deep skin tones.
Devotion: This is a cool-toned purple highlighter, it is a bit more shimmery than Addiction, this will work for fair to medium skin tones. Even this highlighter looks stunning on the face and does not accentuate my pores. I have never used a purple or pink highlighter before, so this is new for me. It is quite shimmery but blended out it looks natural. The finish is lightweight and it is blendable. When swatched on hand, it looks less shimmery than all three. Yes, it does emphasize pores. I can wear it over any blush shade. It lasts for about 6 hours on my skin. The texture is creamy and smooth and goes smoothly on the skin. If blended properly, it imparts a natural glow to the skin. The shimmers are extremely finely milled. It does not go patchy or uneven on the skin. The undertone of this highlighter is pink and would suit fair skin tones beautifully.
Seduction: Seduction is too dark for me to use on my cheeks, but it is beautiful and very pigmented, so I’ll be using this one on my eyelids. It’s a medium bronze shade. It is quite a dark shade and I have never used this kind of a highlighter before. This highlighter would look natural on deep skin tones. This one is a lightweight highlighter which lasts on the skin for up to 7 hours. Since I mostly use this as an eyeshadow, I use as eyeshadow brush to pat it on to the lids. The texture of this highlighter is smooth and creamy. You can convert the sheen to a metallic finish if you use it wet. The undertone is bronze-y and it’s a highly pigmented shade. This one would look good on deep skin tones.
Indiscretion: This works as a blush topper for me, as it is dark for me to use it as a highlighter. These powders work beautifully and if you are searching for a highlighter that is not too much in your face, then this is for you. This is a champagne colour with peachy undertone. It looks natural on the skin. Indiscretion looks less shimmery than Addiction. Like the other shades, it is lightweight, blendable. I apply it with a brush. It does not emphasize facial pores that much. The lasting power is 7 to 8 hours. The texture is creamy and smooth. The pigmentation is very good and I just need to go once back and forth to deposit the color. This shade would suit fair to medium skin tones very well.
Overall, these highlighters are smooth, nicely pigmented, blendable and works beautifully on the skin and makes the glow look very natural. These do not accentuate facial pores.
