Laura Mercier Pink Grapefruit Lip Parfait Creamy Colourbalm Review

Hello everyone!

A while back I hauled a few of the new Laura Mercier Lip Parfait Creamy Colourbalms. The range looked so beautiful and delicious with their juicy names that I just couldn’t resist. This review will be on the shade “Pink Grapefruit”.

My Experience with Laura Mercier Pink Grapefruit Lip Parfait Creamy Colourbalm:

Packaging:
These lipsticks come in a nice sleek tube with a secure cap. When opened, there is a signature of Laura Mercier which gives the lipstick a luxurious high end look and makes you feel as if you are sporting something autographed by a coveted celebrity (which she is). I like the fact that the lipstick completely retracts into the tube, hence when you go to put on the cap there is no accidental damage.

Texture/ Application:
These lipsticks feel like a hybrid of a lip balm and a lipstick. There feel very similar in texture, feel and look to the Urban Decay Sheer Revolution Lipsticks (see the haul post and swatches of those here), but these Laura Mercier ones are much more hydrating and smoothing. They glide like butter on the lips – so smooth and creamy. There is no tugging. It feels as if you are applying a lip balm on your lips.

Feel and Look on Lips:
These lipsticks, when applied, deeply hydrate and moisturise the lips while providing color. They smooth over any fine lines on the lips and do not accentuate them. They also do not accentuate dry patches hence these are a perfect, low maintenance lipsticks to wear.

Shade:
The shade “Pink Grapefruit” is described as a blueish pink. On me, it looks a beautiful peachy pink nude shade that looks very flattering. Even though it is a bit light and falls into the category of nude lips for me, it does not drain the color from my face or give me ghost lips. It has the right amount of pink undertone that gives life to my skin and at the same time looks very understated and pairs well with any makeup be it every day natural makeup or with deep dramatic eyes.

This shade will look best on those with pale – light medium skin tone. I don’t think this color will be particularly flattering on deeper skin tones though if you pair it with a deeper lip liner, I think you may be able to pull it off.

Finish:
This finish of this lipstick is cream- sheen, but it is not overly glossy looking. The shine does settle down at around 3 hours as it wears through the day.

Pigmentation:
These lipsticks have good pigmentation. They pack on 75-80% opacity in 1-2 swipes. Even with full color on the lips, it retains a bit of translucency which gives it a natural appearance, hence this might not be the best choice for those looking to cover pigmented lips.

Staying Power:
This lipstick is not very long wearing. It does transfer and the staying power is mostly dependent of how much you eat or drink. If I do take light snack and few drinks, the staying power is about 3 hours. It completely disappears after a full meal without staining the lips. When I haven’t eaten or drank anything even then it fades from the lips at around 5-6 hours.

Fragrance:
This lipstick has a very light, fruity scent which I like.

Overall, I really love this lipstick formula. These have become my every day, no brainer lipsticks. They are very comfortable and hydrating which is huge bonus for my constantly dry lips. I will definitely recommend them.
