How To Make Lemon Peel Face Scrub – Do It Yourself

Hey All,

How To Make Lemon Peel Face Scrub Do It Yourself

I hope you all had a good week. I had a blast last week. In Andamans, Durgo Pujo is celebrated with great pomp and show. We were invited to several (almost all) puja bhavans and we made it to two of them on that day. It was a lovely evening, seeing people coming from extreme interiors of the forests to the main bazaar to watch the celebrations.

Then, at the weekend, we suddenly made a plan to go to a nearby island. We had plans initially but the weather was rough, so we cancelled it, but then, the sun shone bright the next morning and we started off. We visited two awesomely beautiful islands and it was a memorable trip. I have attached a picture of one of the beaches at the end of the post.

Okay, so today, I am going to tell you about something real nice, easy and helpful that I discovered during one of my creative outbursts! Hope you all like it.

This is a ready-to-use face scrub that you can easily customize as per your requirements and it hardly takes 5 minutes to make it.

I remember using orange peel powders in face packs and they really worked well for me. Last year, I asked my mum-in-law to dry some lemon and orange peels and powder them for me. She graciously did it 🙂 She is a real good mum-in-law!

I have box full of natural, homemade, dried orange and lemon peel powder. I also have Jovees face massage cream which I love, but I hardly find the time and the need to massage it. So, I was looking for a way to combine the powders and the massage cream so that I could have two things in one go.

That is when I got this idea:

Ingredients:

Face cream, lemon peel powder and some essential oil (optional) and a small tub/pot/jar to store.

How To Make:

1. Pick a face cream that you use for massaging on your face. If you do not have a face massage cream, you can conveniently use Pond’s Cold Cream or any other moisturizing cream.

2. Take out a small scoop of the cream and empty it in the small jar.

3. Take out a small spoon of dried lemon peel powder and pour it in the jar.

4. Mix the two together.

Lemon Scrub

5. The scrub is ready! If you find it to be a little thick, you can add a few drops of essential oil to the mixture.

Lemon Face Scrub

Note:  The consistency of the scrub depends on the nature of the powder (coarse or fine) and also on the texture of the cream. So, blend the two accordingly.  You can add an essential oil of your choice to the mixture to make the scrub a little runny if you feel like and also to add an aroma or smell to the scrub.

This works wonderfully well for me. I am now obsessed with it. Lemon peel is citrusy in nature and thus it is a good preservative in itself, thus if you mix the two, chances are the mixture would last long without needing a chemical preservative.

If you want a little more scrubbing effect, try to grind the powder coarsely because the coarser it is, more exfoliation it will do.

How To Make the Peel Powder:

Those of you who do not have the powder, can easily make it. After using a lemon, do not throw away its zest. Store it in a basket. When you have quite a few zests collected, dry them off in shade. Once they are completely dried, (this can take around 3-4 days on sunny days), grind them to powder.

Simple, effective and cost saving. Isn’t it?

The best thing about using homemade solutions is that you feel like a master of your body. You know what you are applying on your face and how it will behave. Try it on and I will be waiting to hear from you all.

Before I end, here is a picture of a picturesque beach of one of the islands that I visited. Have a great time 🙂

  1. Hey Surabhiiiii…..love the orange/lemon powder, works for me too 🙂 ayyo….forgot to add the Andaman pic….doing that now 🙂

    1. I think it should as it is made up of lemon peel and lemon is said to be good for oily skin. But take care while mixing the cream. Mix a cream for your skin type. And thanks. I actually do not have my in-laws. My hubby lost his parents at a very young age. It is mamiji.. who I consider mt mum-in-law. And this fact even makes her greater! Isnt it..? 🙂

      1. hahaha…i wish u told me earlier…i have already planned for Sikkim 😛 But then, i can surely visit andamans near future mein, i already have it in my mind….. thanx, this DP had been for a week in fb and now, its here too 😀

    1. hihihi.. moms are so sweet.. always doing things for their daughters. And Rati.. you guys MUST come to Andamans.. and you know what.. till the time I am here.. I can get you to many pristine places that are otherwise not easily accessible to tourists.. so plan to come here before I move out. Seriously, you would love it.

  3. Awesome DIY, Surabhi! I have used orange peel powder before but never the lemon one. And the use of massage cream is innovative indeed. Definitely going to try this one. I need some new DIY recipe to try. And I agree with you about feeling good after using homemade recipes on face/body. It makes me feel confident that I didn’t put any unknown junk on the face.

And that picture is gorgeous. The island looks so leisurely. I wonder how people who live in places like that get any work done. 😀

    1. hihihihihi… yeah.. such places make you lazy, for good actually. Initially I would go crazy without 2 hrs of internet or phone connection and now I stay sane even if the connection breaks down for days! I have come to appreciate many other important things in life now, thanks to Andamans.

And I thought of this massage cream as it would not only be 2-in-1 thing for the cream but also for the scrub. Try it out and I have another DIY for orange peel as well.. will post that also pretty soon.
