Muslin draped trees and multiple ramps snaked through the venue of the very stylish Tote and were spread over two areas – indoor and outdoor as the dazzling show by Anamika Khanna set the mood for the Summer/Resort 2011 season of Lakmé Fashion Week.
Presenting one of the most ethereal collections, but with a marked androgynous touch; Anamika’s creations gave women’s wear an ethnic Indian look but with elegant masculine touches for silhouettes and detailing that ranged from regal Indian royal clothing to comfortable daily men’s wear with the dhoti being a major inspiration for the designer.

To the vibrant drum beats of Anup and Martin of Nirv-a-Funk, the show choreographed by Anu Ahuja, opened with a delicate white mul kurta splashed with chikan work teamed with fluid pyjamas and discreet shimmering embroidery on the hem. Anamika then unleashed a line of black, white, purple, red and grey ensembles which were all perfect summer wear.

There was exquisite silver cutwork for the luxurious long jackets and waistcoats, as well the lehengas and kurtas, while voluminous elephant pants, tiny figure hugging cholis, sober shirts with wide cuffs, belted jackets and tailored coats presented the right feminine line but with manly touches.
Embellishments were at strategic places like sleeves, as panels or edged hemlines and borders. The fabric line up was ideal for sultry summer with mul, cotton and silk being the favoured choice. The print story at the end of the show was in muted abstracts or large circular motifs.
Some of the stunners in the show were the silver cutwork waist coat, the embroidered cutwork asymmetric blouse, jackets and coats, the long sleeve blouse with rouched detailing, the very interesting black and white waistcoat with peplum edge, the swirling red lehenga with large embroidered hemline, long floor length sheer coats, the cute black short peasant blouse, the high slit lean kurta and the sheer voluminous skirt over churidars.

The trousers were either multi gathered or skin tight leggings/Jodhpuri pants. Collars made an impact as they rose to cover the neck while the gorgeous shawls with glittering silver embroidered borders were arresting in their visual beauty.

Indian craft and embroidery was used cleverly as Anamika ensured that they were additions to the beauty of the garments. The beautiful matching silk mojris were the ideal footwear created by Anamika.
Practical, timeless, comfortable and visually beautiful is how Anamika Khanna’s collection for Summer/Resort 2011 could be described; and from the way the ladies in the audience admired the creations, they will surely be great sellers too.

Look @ the watch Anamika Khanna is wearing.. nice nice.. :woot: :woot:
I saw i saw i saw :happydance: But sports bra
That’s a new way to showing off sheer outfits without looking vulgar. A friend who works with KImaya told me this that people wear black, red, blue and even stripes below sheer tops… its only that Anamika Khanna has worn a sports bra as she wanted it to look like a spag instead…
I liked her way of wearing it..but perhaps something else….not a sports bra if that’s what it is..
I liked her kurta. 😀
BLUE BOX :jiggy1: :jiggy1:   :ghost2: :jiggy1: :jiggy1:   :ghost2: :jiggy1: :jiggy1:   :ghost2: :jiggy1: :jiggy1:   :ghost2: :jiggy1: :jiggy1:   :ghost2:
I would have recommended her to wear very lacy bra instead of sprts bra..
SOonam loOking Nice…. whats up Rati Di.. how R u ..??
I am good swati. How are you doing? :-*
why on earth is she wearing a black sports bra under such a pretty white top :violinbash: :violinbash: :violinbash: :violinbash:
Sensible people do that :smug: :smug: :smug:
yeahh.. i know, like white under white is pathetic… black is good but in her case is too noticeable.. ?:)
nude is better bt that would give a a nekkid look. 😐 😐 😐 😐
ratii… err.. wrong place to ask but black is ideal no ???? evevrything else looks so funny ?? like not how anamika khanna is wearing .. something thats not so remarkable wala black 😐 😐 😐 😐 😐 😐 😐 😐 😐 😐
Hehehee..know what Naina…Rati and I had this discussion over mail the other day..and we kept giggling…and me said black and she said..well whatever she said…so is why I was telling her ke she wore black…though I didn’t mean it for something so sheer….
Oh and you and I might be the only two black supporters here.. 😐 😐 😐
Me too Rads :bravo: :bravo:
hmmm… so the conclusion is black under white .. u also think ki white under white highlights it , or its just me ??
naina since the time I have joined office, I wore a spaghetti under an almost transparent white top of mine., it looks very awkward if your bra is showing through.. I wouldn’t wear it if I am going to a mall, i would prefer a nude bra or even black but office i would hate if my ugs are peeping through my clothes
I don’t think ugs are supposed to show through anyway…there is a reason why they are called U-garments naaa 😀 As for such sheer ones like how she has worn, I don’t think anybody in their right minds would wear just a regular ug and walk around – black, blue, pink or polkadotted!! Me too spaghetti wearing 🙂 🙂
Me hate white…we finally decided on a dirty grey
or a hot pink halter :lol2:
That would look really cute :inlove: :inlove: :inlove: :inlove: :inlove: I am actually thinking you quite okay even with all that wool hair
yeah it would be very Goa-ish. I’d love to do that.
I did that in mumbai recently… when i went to Aksa beach with a friend…. red halter top under white sheer loose shirt….
It looked S@#Y…
But can’t share pix… :handshake2: :disdain: :bye:
lollll!! I love goa for all such things. You can wear the teeniest of clothes without getting bothered about anything. 😀 😀
of yeah dirty light grey works fantabulous… I love that. 😛 😛
me too like black n hate white… :secret2: :secret2: :secret2:
I’m liking the voluminous skirts and elephant pants esp the ones in the second last pic on the model standing next to Anamika Khanna. The material seems exactly like the one which Anamika Khanna’s kurta is made of! Not liking the high necks and long sleeves..they make me feel stuffy..not summery at all! WTH is up with Sonam Kapoor? :sarcasm:
The lady behind Sonam Kapoor on the left is wearing one of the most hideous dresses I have ever seen.. 😕
sonam kapoor looks nice but i really wnat her to take that coat off.. It’s so god damn hott.. I would ahve loved a nice summery dress but this was more like fall winter.
ya the lady behind her is looking like a over dressed salasa dancer or samba
I love that white dress worn by the lady in the first pic….but y she wearing black something something inside…… ?:) ?:) ?:)
wow. Anamika Khanna is always so good! n what a brilliant way of wearing sheer-chikan kurtis!! loooove what she is wearing!
I want that sheer white kurta :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:
I do not like sonam here at all …whats wrong with here hair..she looks like some of those englishmen, going off on war
I like what Anamika is wearing herself!!!
White Lucknawi kurtis define summers for me!! Pair them with linen pants and I can live in them forever!!!!
i love anamika kurta its so summery but better if she had layered it nicely.
Lovely creations. I like her Indian ensembles more…..
