My 5 Recent Lifestyle Changes

healthy-lifestyle-changes

Hi Everyone, 🙂
I have made a few lifestyle changes in past few months. They have sort of helped me. I thought I’d share them with you all. 🙂

1. I feel when you work from home you become laid-back about a lot of things. In my case I used to wake up every morning and the first thing I’d do was freshen up and sit right on my laptop for hours at a stretch. Somewhere in afternoon I’d take bath, do my skin care, get dressed up in my comfy PJs and then again back to laptop. I have completely changed this habit of mine now. I wake up in the morning and the first thing I do is that I take bath, do my skin care, and get dressed up. I just feel so good and sorted. My PJs are only for night now or for some cheat days. 😛

2. Minimising sugar intake in my diet. I have substituted sugar with shakkar/ gur or agave syrup. You may also use stevia but I don’t like the taste of stevia at all. I enjoy eating my sweets outside home whenever I want to, but when I am at home I like to maintain this control. Honestly, I feel this has helped me a LOT in keeping my weight in check. In fact, I don’t crave for sugar anymore.

3. I organise my stuff at least once a week. I pick up small sections every time. And this way slowly and steadily all my stuff is getting organised. 😀 I feel when you pick up just one random day to organise everything, it becomes a task.

4. I have added supplements my diet of late. In our busy lives there is no way we can get all kinds of proteins and vitamins that our body needs. And especially I feel our diets are not so rich as it used to be for people of earlier times. Most of the time we are scared of eating various foods to avoid gaining weight. So what do we do? We take supplements. 😀 I started having fish oil soft gels almost a month back. I just take one each day but I guess now I’d start taking two. I feel it has helped a lot in my immunity. With the continuous travel and weather change, I often used to fall sick. I have’t made any other change except these tablets and my immunity had really improved. These Vit E tablets I started taking recently on Neha’s reco because my nails are chipping a lot oflate. I think it’d take time for these to show the result but I’d stick to these two. Please consult the doctor before taking any supplements, especially those who are allergic or sensitive to certain foods.

5. And last but not the least. This is something I learnt from my mum and it totally makes sense. All the lovely clothes that I have worn a couple of times and are getting old, I have decided to wear them at home. Rather than buying a whole new wardrobe for home, I wear all my dresses and skirts especially at home. But I guess women never stop buying new clothes and old clothes just keep getting older hanging in the closet. So why not  enjoy wearing them even more? 🙂

Are there any lifestyle changes that you may have made or some things that you follow? Please do share them. 🙂

And I am going to pick up the tip from your mom *puchhi* *puchhi* *puchhi*

  10. i started drinking almost 8-10 glass of water everyday before a couple of months and i started notice the change in my entire body .this is one thing which really helps me to be healthy and fresh all day long.and its the month of “Ramadan” and i am also trying to fast 🙂 🙂 .there is a general tendency among the south asians that they took heavy oily meals as “Iftari”, which only makes them fat(after almost 16 hours fasting!!!).but i have fruits,Rooh Afza and some khichdi kind of meals(again in a medium quantity)in my iftari.also it might be a problem to drink lots of water after iftari to before the Sahri, but i drink 2 glasses during iftari, and then till 11 pm one glass in every hour and in sahri again 2 glasses of water. my course of eight glasses of water complete like this 🙂 🙂

  11. Lovely post Rati and very true as well..

I have recently made a small change – I eat a plate of fruits as a meal in itself. I am not a fruit person except for the ones that taste sweet like chikoo, custard apple and mango. but now I make sure to eat a plate full of fruits. And haan I have been watching lotsa movies lately.. 😀

  12. really nice that you shared this, i can see from comments, readers are infused with positiveness after reading this like me !

Incidentally i have also started to follow two things religiously, waking up early and bifurcating organisation of stuff. Earlier it was a huge task and used to take all my energy, breaking them each a day or each a two day makes it easy. And there is different feeling altogether or early morning starts.

    Thanks once again!

  13. great post Rati…
I have recently stared taking Herbalife Multivitamins after being diagnosed a border-line Thyroid case…and another lifestyle change is that I have started with CTM routine and under eye- cream routine, was blessed with good skin untill now so never bothered but now age has stared to show its sign on me off late… *headbang* *headbang* thus following IMBB religiously and learning from each one of you.. *thankyou*
will follow ur tip no. 5 about wearing old clothes at home rather than keeping them for 23 years and throwing them, donating them to Goonj(not sure what they actually do with it, does it go to needy… *scared* *scared* )

    1. anuradha, all my old clothes go to my maids and they make a good use out of them. There are I am sure good NGOs around where you could donate the clothes but I am not sure about the names. 🙂 But some clothes i feel you cant seem to part from and neither you give them away nor you wear them. So it’s better to wear them at home, right? 🙂

  14. So helpful Rati thanks a lot for the tips …If you have started using any fitness tips please share them with us …..

  15. I can never organize more than a part happily so I always do it it in parts 😀 I have cut down on sugar and started taking 2-3 fruits daily whatever comes handy. And yes taking out clothes at home is such a happieie feeling no *happy dance* *happy dance*

  16. Lovely post!

I so want to organise my stiff as well… I really dont have place to keep my clothes now! *preen* I need to organise it well thanks for the motivation *puchhi*

I take Vitamin C, A but not regularly I want to start that as well 😛 I like Fishoil thing! But I cant stand d smell does this stink even a bit?

Sugar toh *touchwood* dont have a sweet tooth *happydance*

Ya so now I know what I have to do this week end *thankyou*

    1. it does not smell of anything vidhi and I have dared not smell it even. I just gulp it down *hihi* Organising is like zen. Do it. 😀

  17. Rati nice post . When we see people making improvements , it inspires us too . Btw , is sugar really so bad for health ? And what is evion ? Never heard of it . I liked the organizing tip a lot . You organizing / decluttering feels so good .
Waiting for more such articles from you .

    1. well sugar is not good for health that’s for sure but ut is difficult to erase it completely from your life. Everything store bought does have some amount of sugar but you can out a control on that. 🙂

      Vit E capsules. thanks 🙂

  18. Rati, u know I love u, but even more so when u share such posts *puchhi* *puchhi*

    1. Go to bed early (dont read at night n lose track of time)
    2. Workout early
    3. Make an effort to dress up on weekdays 😛 And It goes on…
I take supplements myself but u motivated me to continue.. I totally agree with ur first point. When I was looking for a job thats what I’d do and even now when am at home on weekends I do that… 😀 But u r right, it makes such a difference to get dressed! *happy dance* *happy dance*

  23. What a truly fantastic post Rati. Got me thinking (Glad i didnt miss it). Very inspiring. The vitamins is so very imp though i dont take any unfortunately. Will make an appointment with my doc this week and start on something. *puchhi* thanks for the reminder.

2 changes that am making. 1. Complain/ crib less 2. dont put myself down in front of other ppl. Self belief basically.

Every morning i get up and believe that i will accept myself for who i am and wont be apologetic abt it.

  24. Lovely post Rati.. *clap* n even my mom emphasize on point 5. but i am always in my Pjs at home.. *hihi* but will definitely try to follow her advice.. 😀

  26. I loved this post. Ever since the rains and an ankle sprain, my life has been pretty sedentary. I try my best now to take a few walks to strengthen up and feel fresh. I like your mom’s tip. recently when i cleaned out my cupboard, i decided to either donate or start wearing some of my stored clothes for home. it does feel great to wear nice looking clothes at home 🙂
