A while back I did a Lime Crime haul in which I got a bunch of their liquid liners in lots of non-conventional colors. I can sometimes be a bit experimental with my makeup hence these shades appealed to me. This review will be on the Lime crime liquid liner in the shade Citreuse.
About the product: Bold and hyper-pigmented liquid eyeliner in an electric yellow-green hue. Ultra-thin brush creates precise application, and liner dries to a matte finish. These babies pack a lot of punch!
My Experience with Lime Crime Citreuse Liquid Liner:
Packaging: I love the super cute polka dot cap with the see-through tube which makes spotting the color you want, very easy.
Applicator: The applicator is a very fine brush tip. It is very flexible and holds a good amount of product in 1 dip. The thin and small size makes it very easy to do a thin liner or even winged eyeliner.
Texture/Consistency and Pigmentation: This liquid liner has a very thin, liquid-y consistency. It does apply a bit streaky in 1 swipe but the pigmentation can be built upon in 2-3 layers to a nice opaque line. But due to the nature of this color I find it is best to top it with a similar color eyeshadow which helps to seal the liner, making it long wearing and also making the color look even more opaque and intense. I usually pair this shade with my Kat Von D Electric Warrior.
Shade: This shade is a gorgeous neon chartreuse color. This is definitely not a color for the faint hearted or something that will look appropriate for an everyday basis except if maybe you use just a tiny pop of it under your regular eyeliner wing or in the inner corner. But if you are like me who loves to create unique look, you will love this shade as it is definitely attention-grabbing.
Staying power: This eyeliner is quite long wearing on its own but since I do top this with a similar color eyeshadow I get an even longer wear. I see no fading or smudging till the point I decide to take it off at the end of the day. It is smear proof once it sets but it is not waterproof and will bleed at the first sign of water.
Fragrance: I have had this liner for a few months now and I have noticed it is starting to develop a rancid smell. The shelf life noted on the box says 6 months which is very short. And considering the fact that this is not a shade you will use that regularly, you might not get a chance to use it that much before it goes bad and your money goes to waste.
Overall I do think this eyeliner is quite expensive for having such a short shelf life (but thankfully I snagged it during a sale so I don’t feel guilty). Plus this shade is not something you might get a lot of use of, except if you regularly create bold, unconventional looks or eye art. But as far as quality is concerned I do think it is a great product in terms of beautiful pigmentation and this gorgeous unique shade. I will only recommend this if you want to experiment.
In the EOTD, I used this eyeliner topped with Kat Von D Electric Warrior. Eyeshadows on the lid are from Viseart Dark matte palette.
