Lime Crime is popular for its long-wearing lipstick range, i.e. the Velvetines. They recently launched their ‘Plushies Soft Focus Lip Veil’ range and I picked up a few variants. In this review, I’ll be talking about the shade ‘Grape Jelly’. Here’s how it fared.

My Experience with Lime Crime Plushies Soft Focus Lip Veil Grape Jelly:
These lipsticks have one of the cutest packagings ever! They come housed in a chubby see-through tube. The tube has the cutest pink cap with adorable teddy bears. The lipstick tube has a transparent outer pink plastic cover, which is kind of sweet and unique as well. The lipstick looks super pretty and the fonts on the tube are also gorgeous.
The applicator is a soft doe-foot one, which is what I prefer in my lipsticks. I feel such applicators create fewer streaks and it’s easy to get a precise application with them even without a lipliner. So thumbs up for that. As I have told you before, ‘The Plushies’ is a new formula of liquid lipsticks by Lime Crime. This range offers a huge variety of 12 shades and all the shades are named after sweet eatables, like Marmalade, Butterscotch, Gumdrop etc.
The shade I picked up is called ‘Grape Jelly’, which is a deep sheer vampy grape purple colour. The colour is on the darker side and will be apt for fall. Though it’s a beautiful shade, it is not for everyone. We need some extra courage to pull this off.
These lipsticks are almost like a lip tint as they’re very thin and sheer; they dry down completely and give the effect of a matte stain. The formula is very liquidy and they apply like a tint on the lips. They’re lightweight and thin on the lips and doesn’t transfer or smudge at all. They are very comfortable and they don’t dry out or crumble on the lips.
Since it is more of a tint the colors are a bit sheer and we can’t expect full-on opacity like normal liquid lipsticks. But the color is easily buildable. After applying one layer of the colour and it dries down completely, apply another fresh layer and follow again with another layer if required.
Usually, three layers of the lipstick give full-on opacity and cover the lips completely, but if you want a sheer wash of color, then you can stop with the first layer. They have a berry scent and the formula is so light that you’ll forget that you’re wearing anything. They’re long wearing, they fade evenly and once they dry down, they’re smudge proof and transfer proof.
