Lime Crime Red Velvet Velvetines Liquid Matte Lipstick Review

Hey!

What lengths would you go to get the makeup product of your dreams? Quite far. Won’t you?? I have today in I my hands a lip product that I have been dying to own more than the Tom Fords, NARS or Burberrys of the industry.

It’s an indie brand, so the popularity speaks about itself. Here, I present today the ‘mother’ of matte liquid lipstick Lime Crime Red Velvet Velvetines Liquid Matte Lipstick .

My Experience with Lime Crime Red Velvet Velvetines Liquid Matte Lipstick:

Packaging: The liquid lipstick comes inside a cardboard box which is adorned with roses and looks lovely. Since, I ordered them from the website the outer box of the parcel was terribly cute as you can see in the pics. The lipstick itself is in a cylindrical frosted finish glass bottle and it has a doe foot applicator which I am not a big fan of (explained in the details).

Texture and consistency: The texture is super creamy and melted buttery type (if you have used NYX Matte Lip Creams), but better than those and very light weight and doesn’t have any annoying smell.

The lipstick is very thick and creamy and you would only need a small amount to cover the lips (hold the temptation to apply more product or it can spell disaster) and, since it’s thick and creamy it does help in application with more precision. For insanely pigmented lipsticks like these, if the product is thin and watery it will look odd on the lips.

Pigmentation and Staying Power: I need not say much on my own about the pigmentation as you can already make it out from the pics. The lipstick goes liquid to matte in a few seconds and sets. The color goes full opaque in one go hiding all imperfections and making the lips look fuller and stays on forever till you remove it with a makeup remover.

I have tried removing my hand swatch with hand wash and warm water then applied some lotion but it didn’t move a bit; so you’ll need a makeup remover for it to go. I have had small snacks and it survived that as well as drinks and it’s non-transferable, but with oily food it gets dissolved and looks ugly so you’ll need a reapplication. All the pics were taken under natural light conditions.

Overall Experience with Lime Crime Red Velvet Velvetines Liquid Matte Lipstick:

I am short of words to express how glad I am to have got this and the Pink velvet (see the swatch) belongs to the category of lipstick that can make you look like million dollars without a pile of makeup.

I was pretty surprised to see myself look that stunning even without a trace of makeup with just the lipstick on my lips. Save this for days when you feel lazy to do your entire makeup, but want to have an oomph!!!

The word of caution is for the applicator if you have shaky hands like me you’ll hate the applicator because with a madly pigmented lipstick like these, you cannot have the luxury to err, so grab your lip brush and lip liner for a more sharp line.

Since, it’s a hybrid between a lipstick and a gloss and a lip stain it does stain the lips, but don’t worry that goes away with a lip balm and moisturization. The product is cruelty free and vegan so that adds more brownie points.

Some reports about the brand were controversial and it had its share of controversy which had led to some people nit using or reviewing the products, but come on!!! I am a normal consumer I need good products for my money “rishtedari nahi karni mujhe brand walo se”. This is more comfortable on my lips than the MAC RiRi Woo 😀

  1. How STUNNING are the lip swatches! Absolutely gorgeous! I’ve always wondered how drying these are. But when u say it’s less drying than Ruby Woo…I have to try this! Now I have to figure how to get my hands on these! “Sigh”

    1. Thanks KK … I was skeptical about the texture though but quite surprisingly these are super light on lips and much more comfortable than the mac retro mattes…no doubt this brand has such cult fan following 😀 do grab a coupe I know you’ll love them 😀

    1. I agree sumera mattes can be very cruel on dry lips but I am sure you’ll find the perfect matte that fits your bill 🙂
