This review will be on the Lime Crime Velvetines Liquid Matte Lipstick in the shade “Faded”.
Inspired by rose petals, Velvetines go on liquid and dry to a velvety-matte finish. Touch-proof, transfer-proof & utterly addictive!
$20, but I got it for less than that during Black Friday sale.
My Experience with Lime Crime Velvetines Faded Liquid Matte Lipstick:
All Lime Crime products have very unique packaging. These Velvetines liquid lipsticks come in a frosted plastic tube with a doe-foot applicator. I love the design of roses on the cap which gives it such a girly appeal. The applicator is a bit small, but it is precise. I personally do not feel any difficulty with application since I am quite familiar with liquid lipsticks. But, for beginners, it might take some practice as mistakes can be a bit difficult to clean as the lipstick does set quickly.
This liquid lipstick goes on like a creamy smooth liquid and dries down to a complete matte finish within seconds. The texture is a bit more liquid-y and not as mousse-y when compared to Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick or Stila All Day Liquid Lipstick. Once it dries, it is completely budgeproof , smudgeproof and kissproof. It does not bleed at all. It works best at the thinnest layer, hence if you put it too thick, it will feel drying and transfer too.
Shade & Pigmentation:
The shade, “Faded”, is a gorgeous cool toned faded purple-mauve color. It is a very unique shade and complements cool toned makeup really well. Even though this shade is very different, it will still look flattering on most skin tones. I like this color, but it is not my favorite as I usually favor warm colors more than cool.
Feel and Staying Power:
These liquid lipsticks dry to a complete matte finish. I find the formula of Kat Von D Liquid Lipsticks much more comfortable than this in comparison. Still this Lime Crime Velvetine feels like a feather on your lips. Like all matte liquid lipsticks, it will accentuate chapped or flaked lips, but if you exfoliate a little before use, this will wear on like a dream. It does give a slightly powdery feel on the lips after 4-5 hours of wear, which is not uncomfortable or bothersome. It does not feel sticky at all.
It stays intact for 8-9 hours. It also survives a full meal provided the meal isn’t too oily. It does not transfer at all and you can hardly feel it on the lips. You do need a makeup remover at the end of the day to remove all traces of it. I love the fact that this product is all vegan too.
A fantastic product, quality wise. I find this shade to be very unique and flattering but still I won’t call it my favorite color. I like the formula of this Velvetines too, hence I will recommend this.
