I know I have been away for quite some time and the reason behind it is really exciting. 😉 It is our trip to India. We are going to India 😀 and the plan was finalized within a couple of days, which left me with very little time for shopping and other preparations. This is not the best time to visit my hometown, with the smoldering hot weather, but my hubby couldn’t get away from office any other time. Nonetheless, I am super excited, I would be meeting my parents after almost 2 years!!! And I am leaving tomorrow, so before I go MIA for a couple of more weeks, today I want to review a lipstick from “Lipstick Queen.” After awesome reviews from the “Velvet Rope” range (Brat Pack, Private Party), I was excited to pick this lipstick, but does this one match up to the Velvet Rope range, let’s find out 🙂

My Experience with Lipstick Queen Silver Screen See Me Lipstick:
Packaging: The Lipstick Queen Silver Screen lipsticks come in a silver case which is pretty heavy and sturdy, and gives a total luxurious feel. The cap has a magnetic closure and closes with a satisfying click, so you do not have to worry about it opening accidentally in your bag. There is a sticker with the shade name at the bottom of the tube. The outer packaging is grey-silver and has a velvety feel to it. It carries the ingredients and other details about the product.
Shade/Pigmentation: The shade “See Me” is described as a playful peach by the brand. It is a milky peach shade. The shade is beautiful, but it’s not too flattering on my skin tone and like most of the milky shades, it kind of washes me out. However, it would look beautiful on girls with fair to medium skin tones.
This lipstick is not very pigmented either. Though the brand claims that these lipsticks pack a full pigment-punch, it is not so. This lipstick is very sheer. In fact, in a single swipe, it just looks like I have swiped some lip balm on; the shade is not really visible on my pigmented lips. I have to go over at least thrice to make the color visible.
Application: Silver Screen lipsticks are known to be the glossy counterparts of the lipsticks from the “Velvet Rope” range. As the brand describes, they are wet-looking and moisturizing. You really do not need to wear any lip balm underneath and yet it will keep your lips hydrated and moisturized.
The lipstick goes on smoothly, but not evenly. I find that the application is very patchy and I do not get a uniform application from it. And if I purse my lips together to distribute the color, it makes things worse. Also, the lipstick is hydrating, scrubbing your lips prior to application is better, else it might cling to the chapped and dry areas of lips.
The peppermint oil gives a little tingling sensation the lips, which is not worrisome, but it’s the scent that gives me a headache. I have an aversion to peppermint and too much of it leads to headache. With this lipstick on, I feel like I am wearing some kind of a pain-relieving balm . Now, who would like to wear zandu balm on lips!!! Well, fragrance is a personal preference, but for me, it’s like the last nail in the coffin.
Staying Power: The staying power is okay. With just water, it stayed on my lips for around 4 hours, but with heavy meals, it was gone with no trace of color on my lips. Also, since it is a glossy lipstick, it transfers and like crazy. Also, it settles into lip lines in no time; however, wearing a primer underneath (MAC prep and prime lip primer) does help a bit.
Pros of Lipstick Queen Silver Screen See Me Lipstick:
- Luxurious packaging.
- Beautiful shade.
- Glides easily on the lips.
- Hydrates the lips.
Cons of Lipstick Queen Silver Screen See Me Lipstick:
- Poor pigmentation.
- Patchy application.
- Super pricey.
- Washes me out.
- Settles into lip lines.
- Transfers heavily.
- Peppermint oil – not meant for me!
Would I Repurchase/Recommend Lipstick Queen Silver Screen See Me Lipstick?
Overall, I am not really happy with this purchase and with a whopping price tag, it fails to impress me. I might have issues with this particular shade, but the peppermint oil is not really my cup of tea, hence I might not repurchase any other shade from this range. I would recommend this shade only if you want a sheer lipstick, but then there are too many options, that too at half the price.
