Living Proof Skin Care Range Review

I have been using the Living Proof line combined with my normal skin care for a while now, so I thought of doing a review on it as it might help people to get a simple and affordable skin care regimen that will last you long and not make you break the bank.
I came across with this line believe me, at Spar, a supermarket at Lifestyle here in Bangalore, have seen them as well at Star Bazaar, More, Health and Glow outlets, means it’s easily available brand and I was pleasantly surprised to see that it’s actually a good brand with quality products that are just as affordable as Indian brands.

Living proof is a Malaysian/Chinese brand I am not sure which, that has been brought to us by Manipal hospital as the tag on the product says its importer as Cure and Care, so I thought I would give it a try as its truly inexpensive and Cure & Care clinics are very trustworthy and I myself get my doc appointments and consultations done there itself. Also Cure and Care clinics have a counter of the Living Proof products.

Their slogan is Cell Care Before Skin Care and their main ingredient is the Phyto-Placenta (Please note the placenta mentioned here is non-animal).

The line covers almost everything when it comes to skin care: Daily routine, Anti-ageing, Fairness, Body, Sun Protection, Eye treatment, etc… If you want to know all in details, please check their website:

So here is what the pamphlet that the SA handed me over at Spar with my first product said (As it’s a new concept and I would like to describe it in details and I also have gotten other products since then, I believe this is going to be a quite long review, please bear with me 😀 )

CELL CARE BEFORE SKIN CARE
LIVING PROOF’s skincare concept is simple yet modern: It treats the cells first to ensure they are healthy so they can absorb further treatments like moisturizing, whitening, anti-wrinkling, etc. Few brands do this.
Because of this professional way of treating skin, LIVING PROOF is best classified as ‘Dermaceuticals’ or ‘Cosmeceuticals’ – products that are sold as cosmetics but affecting the skin like drugs.
Phyto-placenta is clinically proven to work by major French research companies. It not only REGENERATES CELLS (proven improvement by 71%), it also MOISTURISES (proven improvement by 30%) and REDUCES WRINKLES (proven reduction by 10%). It WORKS INSTANTLY. You can feel its soft, silky effect immediately upon use.

LIVING PROOF products are mainly water based, OIL-FREE and non-comedogenic. It is made mainly from plants and therefore reduces cases of skin allergy.
The LIVING PROOF beauty methodology is derived from “gemmotheraphy”. “Gemmotherapy” , is a medical science based on taking advantage of the high potential actives hidden in buds and seed. They are the real embryos of plant life, and contains highly energetic actives: numerous hormones, flavonoids and peptites.

These actives stimulates cell metabolism in plants leading to the transformation from the dormant stage to full blooming. Similarly, in human beings its extracts have been clinically proven to stimulate cell growth leading to renewed youth and beauty.

The active ingredients in LIVING PROOF – the ‘placenta’ or ‘baby cells’ – is extracted from the seeds and buds of the Beech Tree in Europe. It is also called “the everlasting youth tree” in Europe because it lives till 150 years or more. It also contains plant cells from the soya which provide plant estrogen medically proven to be able to supplement the estrogen loss in women as they age. The loss of estrogen causes the skin to lose its youthfulness and radiance.

SKIN CARE WITH A UNIQUE INGREDIENT

The LIVING PROOF phyto placenta formula is unique in many ways. Phyto Placenta (‘phyto’ means ‘plants’) was originally developed for scientific purposes but because of the efficacy of phyto placenta in treating the skin, the formula has been adapted for beauty care instead. There are also important reasons for the adaptation of phyto placenta for skin care.

Animal placenta which is very popular amongst the salons and spas in the world has become less attractive to consumers of late. Animal diseases like mad cow disease and animal viruses like SARS, AIDS, etc have frightened off users as there are fears that cells from animals may contained these diseases and may infect humans through blemishes or the soft membranes on their skin.

The first phyto placenta formula was used in the well-known salons and beauty spas in Europe for both facial and body treatments. LIVING PROOF’s formula is adapted from these original formulae and is now available to the masses in a more affordable form.

So we see, big words and big statements when it comes to their advertizing, I just wanted to know if a company could offer so much with such low prices (price ranges from Rs: 200 to Rs: 500 max)

Here are the products I have tested in these 4 months:

Essentials – Use 2 to 3 times daily
Live Cell Cleanser Complete – 150ml Rs: 240.00
A gentle rich foam cleanser with moisturizer and phyto placenta rinses off easily. For light yet effective cleansing leaving your face feeling supple and silky smooth.

It’s a good face wash I would say, but what I miss from this one is the squeaky clean feel on my face. It deliver what it promises the skin feel supple after washing, so I think dry skinned people would benefit tremendously from this one.

Multi Action Cell Treatment Tonner – 150ml Rs: 260.00
A skin shooting toner with gentle cleansing properties of olive extracts, Russian basidiomycete mushrooms and witch hazel. also an ideal complement to wrinkle and eye contour care, also targeted for makeup removal.

It’s a very mild tonner, with no alcohol whatsoever. Again I think dry skinned people would love this one. This is the cotton pad with the tonner in it; as it’s very watery/ runny it’s a must to use cotton for optimize the effect. It claims that it’s not required to moisturize after you use the tonner, which with my comb/oily skin I feel it’s true.

Treatment and Special Functions – Use as often as you can
Phyto Placenta Multi Protection Day Cream SPF 50/PA+++ 40ml Rs: 430
Like the other products in the CLINICALS hypoallergenic range of skin care, it is free from 8 allergy causing ingredients including artificial coloring, perfumes, alcohol, mineral oil, lanolin and comedons(this line have its own Face wash/Cleansing Gel and it’s packed in white)

This SPF 50/PA+++ moisturizer/day cream is not really a sunscreen just a enhanced moisturizer I would say. It feels light on my oily skin, and the swatch amount is enough to use over my face and neck, more than that make my T-zone shinier.

Supplements – Use 2 to 3 times weekly
Deep Cell Cleansing Gel – 100ml Rs: 220.00
This original and unique formula deep cleanses, unclogs the pores and exfoliates by effectively removing dead cells, blackheads, makeup and even embedded impurities, without any harsh effects on the skin.

This is my favorite product from the whole bunch cause it’s so much fun to use 😀 It’s my second tube and I even shipped to my mom and sis to try and they really liked it as well. On a dry face you apply the gel and start scrubbing in second all the dirt comes out as you can see in the swatch, which will mildly exfoliate and make it squeaky clean. I love it 😀

Live Cell Renewing Moisturizer 30ml Rs: 360.00
Features ultra-active Phyto-Placenta embryonic cells proven to kick-start cell growth and cell renewal. Brings back to your skin the radiance and beauty of your growing years.

This one I use once or twice a week, after scrubbing my face for soothing, yet to see the skin radiance though 😛

Verdict: If you are looking for a ski care regimen that is effective and not over the top expensive, I guess this is a good place to start. I would give it overall a :star: :star: :star: :star: rating. 🙂

The two hour session with Mr. Blair Patterson starts at 11 am. Don’t miss it. 🙂

Btw…What did you think abt Mr P?

  10. Hey Deb..

Thanks for an intro into their range..Frankly, even I thought it was the same as “Hair Care” brand which was mentioned above..Now I see it is not..

Well, where in Blr do you buy them from?

      1. As i stay in koramangala Poormina, this ones are from mostly Spar like Rads said…also you can find in almost any Health and Glow/Star Bazaar/Big Bazaar and Bla bla outlets

          1. 😛

Arrey Rads…you in louuuuuuuuuuuuuu then uh???

            Question of your life RAds

Would you rather…..have a puppy or have Mr P?

            😀 :disdain: :sarcasm:

          2. 😛

Arrey Rads…you in louuuuuuuuuuuuuu then uh???

            Question of your life RAds

Would you rather…..get a puppy or have Mr P?

            😀 :disdain: :sarcasm:

        1. Oh..ok

          Thank you..

Rads..I have seen the hair care thingies in Hypercity, but not skin care..Lemme see again next time. Well Spar..long time since I even peeped into that place.

Somehow their open “fish” section ka smell nauseates me :struggle:

  11. I have never come across this range, Deb. i am loving the toner and cell renewing moisturizer.. And it’s so decently priced also na…Hunt hunt. 😛

    1. Oh yeah Rati, if they were looking to make the CTM accessible and affordable they’ve done it 🙂

That’s why i didnt give 5 stars, cause my skin is comb/oily and i am freak for the squeaky clean feel, at least from a cleanser and a toner…and this ones are very good and moisturizing but do not give me that feel…so 4 stars for them…

On the other hand i am just nuts about the cleansing gel..every time i scrub my face with that i go Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww and its such a fun 😀

  12. Hi Deb.. this seems to b a nice new range of products.. i was actually luking for a gud 3-step skin care regime.. so when i read this review, i am feeling like giving it a try.. u even said tht its gud for dry skin so lets c 🙂 .. bt in ur comment section, u r writing tht dont hav very high expectations..so this is making me a lil confused ?:-) .. shud i go for it(if i find it here or nt)??

    1. Nids, its just a common range of products…I mean do not get high expectations on the fancy words they are using and all…

For as far as their price and what i got on quality/packaging/product usage and lasting power of products they are very good and thats why 4 stars (i would have given 5 wasn’t my skin comb and if i didn’t appreciate the squeaky clean feel 😀 )…i would say its a enhanced sort of Lotus line…dont you gals expect a Clinique and the likes results…

thats why i said do not set unreasonable expectations..its a good product and that all it has to it.. 🙂

      1. Thanx Deb. 🙂 . actually i prev used Amway’s 3-step Artistry range of skin care products.. its expensive bt cud c visible chgs on my face in 2 days..i luved it bt here i am nt able to find a Amway dealer so luking fr other products.. dont want to invest more in an unknown product so searching.. i think than Clinique’s the best coz of its raving reviews.. thanx anyways.. if i find this [roduct here than ask for sum testers first(if they hav) ?:-) :giggle:
