Local Nail Polishes: A Review

When you are in college and donโ€™t have any money of your own and really really want to buy something, what do you do ? You IMPROVISE ๐Ÿ˜€ thatโ€™s what I did all the time, I canโ€™t really buy OPI and China glaze. Who am I kidding, I can’t really buy any expensive nail paint; You should see your mom’s face when you tell her your nail paint is Rs200 ๐Ÿ™‚ she’ll give you a very nice look and say โ€œyou can buy a casual t- shirt in that.โ€ Now I do earn some money, thanks to IMBB :), and I do feel liberated, but that feeling of not spending too much doesnโ€™t leave me. I still feel if it is a nice investment or not (reality check). I am not on a salary of 30 thousand ๐Ÿ˜› and anyways I am trying to save the money I earn to do some very interesting secret project that I am working on ๐Ÿ˜€ MUAHHAHAH you guys will see in 2 months :D. Getting back to the subject, I am still stuck thinking about how to spend my money and not get scolded for Vanity ๐Ÿ˜€ heheh so the cure of this problem is Local nail paints :). I know you guys will say that they are not good quality and they can harm you, but I really donโ€™t have any choice and, to be very honest, I think all the nail polishes have the same chemicals just the really high brands donโ€™t have them, thatโ€™s just a guess. ๐Ÿ™‚ I started buying these nail paints because of the sort of jewelry I make; I need nail paints to be a good barrier between the material and air and water. ๐Ÿ™‚

Although all these nail paints are local, I have used them and their quality is really good ๐Ÿ™‚

Some of these nail paints are not worn by me on my nails but on the jewelry that I make, but let me assure you, they are seriously good, I mean at least for their price

Okay so all these colors are Rs15 each; one of them is a base and top coat so I didnโ€™t swatch that ๐Ÿ˜›

1. This color is a pearl grey which I really like ๐Ÿ˜€ โ€“ it is a very nice color because it’s intensely pigmented and the color on my nails is just by one swipe ๐Ÿ˜€ I love this color because it isnt too gothic and not to girly, I wear it with really bright colors to neutralize the effect (Number 208)

arenโ€™t the little glitter particles lovely? ๐Ÿ˜€

purple nail paint
2. This is a pearl purple color and I have used these for a lot of my rings and pendants. ๐Ÿ™‚ but its light- you won’t get the same color of the bottle in one swipe, you have to put 3 coats to get that color. In one coat you can see the surface below because the base color itself is so light I guess. Once you put three coats it looks heavenly ( number 92 ).

I donโ€™t like to apply it on my fingers because I donโ€™t like colors lighter then my skin tone right now, but its very good for my jewelry ๐Ÿ™‚

green nail paint
3. You remember the green with envy pendant in my article about my handmade creations? well this was the nail color I put on it. This is a pearly green which I really really like to play with. ๐Ÿ™‚

Check out the color! Isnโ€™t it matching to the green hornet ๐Ÿ˜› (number 5)

blue nail paint
4. This is a purpulish blue color and I have to be honest I really love it, although I donโ€™t have the guts to wear it outside my house ๐Ÿ˜› I will use it for my future jewelry escapades ๐Ÿ˜› It really is a beautiful color. You really just have to swipe the brush once to get the exact same color as the bottle. (Number 109)

orange nail paint
5. This is my favorite color in the whole local nail polish article because its an rust orange, I have used this for the rustic rose ring, it’s highly pigmented and looks LOVELY. oh yeah and its glossy on its own I havenโ€™t put any top coat on it or any color (number 226)

6. I bought this color with the blue one because both of them looked very nice together, I have NO intention of wearing this color outside right now: P but you never know I am very moody ๐Ÿ˜› . I will definitely make a jewelry piece in the mix of this and the blue one ๐Ÿ˜€ (Number7)

This swatch too was just one time swipe and no top coat, its glossy on its own. ๐Ÿ™‚

I hope you guys enjoyed my not so famous nail paint brands. The name of the brad is Blue Clun is the name of the Blue nail paint and the others are Ebony London, I researched this company and its by Sugan cosmetics.

Pros of Local Nail Polishes

โ€“ The price !!!
– Colors are highly pigmented
– Snazzy colors available
– They are Locally available

Cons of Local Nail Polishes

โ€“ Some light colors are not pigmented
– Does leave a little color when you apply it without any base coat ( that happens even with lakme that I wear )
– You might not find them in your locality
– There isnโ€™t that Vast a collection oh and no names.

Will I purchase them again? โ€“ Yes . you didnโ€™t even have to ask ๐Ÿ˜€

Do tell me your local companies that do make good nail polishes

P.S: these nail paints are great if you want to apply them on some occasions but some nail paints of the same company are very good quality and can be applied everyday while others are not so everyday wear. Buy these if you want to experiment with color ๐Ÿ™‚

Love
komal

*devil chuckle* you guys will be surprised in 2 months hopefully ๐Ÿ˜€

  1. Hewe hee.. You didn’t have to explain Komal.. We’ve all gone thru college to know ALL about local nail paints.. I still get some local NPs.. the “brand”s called Gala London!!! And they are like 20 Rs. each and have awessome colour range!!! :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

So enjoy!! And am waiting for the secret project too!!!

    1. i used to swear by gala london’s eyeliner.. i so know.. when i was in college , elle 18 was all the rage, and they were sooooo cheap.. i have also used wierd sounding names, bottles that looked fancy but had no name at all..

however i would suggest buying a nice base coat, you do not want colours leaving behind a stain. lotus has a nice base coat, that is free of toluene , dbp , and formaldehyde. basically big 3 free. and it costs 65 rs, less if you buy it from a wholesale kind of store.. its well worth it . it guarantees safe nails no matter what nailpaint u use.

  2. wow all colours r very nice :woot: :woot: :woot: & must be cost effective too :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

    1. uzma kabhi nahin sudhar sakti main. ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ˜

“but that feeling of not spending too much doesnโ€™t leave me” this is so honest , even I feel this many times. All the best for your secret project.

  4. They are all very nice shades Komal..especially the last one

  5. Wohhoooo Komaliya..me too use local nail paints, btw these not-so-famous brands have more color selections n great staying power than those high-end brands.. :handshake: :handshake: we both sail on the same boat..

  6. I too jus love the nail paints by VOV and ADS.. ๐Ÿ˜‰ They do a gr8 job.. ๐Ÿ™‚ Both brands are quiet cheap as well as worthy.. The have a wide range of colors too!!!!!!!! :yahoo: :woot:

  7. oye komaliya…

nice collection… I too used to buy a lot of browns and black in local brands in college.. :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

    1. Tarry rani tum delhi kab aogi ? i told rati about you coming and the meet ๐Ÿ˜€ she said we have to tell her the dates ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. komallia……………… wats the surprise tell me na tell me na… i wont tell any one…. tll me tell me…………. :suspense: :suspense: :suspense: :suspense: :suspense: :suspense: :suspense: :suspense: :suspense: :suspense: :suspense: :suspense: :suspense: :suspense:

  9. funky colors….glossy… pigmented… all that for 15??? :woot: :woot: :woot:

p.s. this blog needs a “jealous” wala smiley very soon!!!

      1. komal v both stay in delhi and i’m such a sucker for cheap and good things…lets go shoping after xams….. how can u find such good deals??? omg
mereko apni sharan me lelo maatey!! :jaiho: :jaiho: :worship:

          1. i live in south… but i’ll stalk u from now on.. buhahahaha  ab kaha jaogi mujhse bachkar *typical prem chopra style*

  10. Rs. 15 only :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: but there a whole lot of choices in such nail polishes….but they chip too soon….. :wilt: :wilt: :wilt: :wilt: :wilt: :wilt:

  11. local nail polishes will have strong smell to them….unlike higher brands like street wear, lakme, colorbar, maybelline… the more higher end nail polishes like revlon, loreal, chambor, beyu, etc…. i have not tried faces and inglot and a couple others yet so cant categorise them……also the local nail polishes will thin your nails…using local nail polish remover also does the same…. so i have stayed away from them for the longest of time…. recently i have got an idea to use colorbar nail hardner as base and a local nail polish on top.. but istill am worried about my nails so….

    1. Layasa these ones smell the same as my colorbar one that i have ๐Ÿ™‚ but the other local companies i have do smell a little weird ๐Ÿ™‚ and yea i have elle 18 which dosent smell at all ๐Ÿ™‚ so what you are saying is right for some local nail paints ๐Ÿ™‚ . I have been using local nail paints but they havent had any reaction to my nails actually :/. i dont use them everyday basis , maybe thats why ๐Ÿ™‚ . my top and base coat is this local nail paint wala hi and it dosent smell and does a very good job ๐Ÿ™‚ . my nails are naturally hard so it dosent bother me and i only use these when i am feeling all radical ๐Ÿ˜› . You shouldn’t use these because you might have problems because of it ๐Ÿ™‚

  12. 5,6,7…  Lovely,Cheap & best.. :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: Chaa gayi Komal… :happydance: :happydance: :happydance: :happydance:

      1. i like, i love, i reside, i shop,i pot, i roam, i date only only only in Delhiiiiiii… :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :lol2: :lol2: :lol2: :lol2: :lol2: :lol2:

  13. hii guess what!! i use the same brand!! and i really love them !! actually i m not a big girl!! i m only 13!! but i m interested in nail art so i have nailpolish and i have 15 nailpolishes and most of them r ebony london! and u r correct they r really good ! once my mom bought me a elle18 nailpolish of 45 rs that was green! and u know it just became dry in 1 month and the nailpolish of ebony london didnt became dry i have lasted it from 3 months!! and i really love it!
