L’Occitane Body and Strength Shampoo Review

Hi beauties,

It has been another long hiatus before I have started reviewing products again. There are so many products to review and I really don’t know where to start. Taking the theme of makeup and beauty into consideration, I always put more importance into skin and hair care rather than makeup. Taking good and regular care of your body along with nutritious diet, plenty of water and daily exercises will make your skin glow from within. Healthy skin and hair are the starting points of your makeup looking good.

L’Occitane Body and Strength Shampoo

Regarding hair care, I will be reviewing three products which I have been using the past 3-4 months.  L’Occitane has released some new products this summer and I just had to have them. From L’Occitane, I got the Body and Strength Shampoo and Conditioner along with the Revitalising and Relaxing Shower Gel. Another hair care product belongs to my favorite brand Kerastase. So without much ado, let’s start with the reviews. Today, I will be reviewing the L’Occitane Body and Strength Shampoo.

Product Description:
Ideal for fine and thinning hair, this silicone-free shampoo made with five invigorating essential oils (Rosemary, Cypress, YlangYlang, Juniper, Cedar) and strengthening amino acids helps strengthen the hair making them more resistant and less prone to falling out due to breakage.  Hair is perfectly clean, feeling fuller and stronger. For best results, combine this shampoo with the Body & Strength 1-minute Intensive Care and Body and Strength Scalp Essence.

How To Use:
Rinse your hair with warm water for about a minute so that is completely wet. Place a small amount of the shampoo onto the palms of your hands and mix with water to create lather. Massage the shampoo onto your scalp with your fingertips, starting from the bottom of your scalp and moving upwards to your temples with small circular motions. Finish at the top of your scalp. Rinse your hair, making sure that no residue remains.

My Experience with L’Occitane Body and Strength Shampoo:

Packaging:  Has always been environment friendly with their packaging. I just love this approach of theirs. Besides, the usual instructions written on the bottle, they also have it engraved in Braille – extremely admirable! The shampoo comes in a dark green-coloured plastic bottle, with a small flip cap at the top. This allows you to regulate the amount of product to be squeezed out.

Color/Fragrance/Consistency:  The shampoo is transparent liquid, neither very thick nor very thin. It has a mild peppermint-like fragrance, which disappears some time after wash.

Results: I always shampoo my hair twice during each wash. I have noticed that shampooing your hair once will not create enough foam whether you have oiled your hair or not. It just primes your hair for the next wash. The second shampooing produces enough foam, really cleanses your hair, and removes all dirt and grime from your hair. Washing it away with water is easy and it makes your hair squeaky clean.

Loccitane shampoo

I have normal to dry hair and I really got disappointed the first time I used the shampoo, I thought this squeaky clean nature would further dry out my hair. But, lo and behold, my hair has been the smoothest and silkiest ever. It does not dry out my hair.

Now, regarding the “body and strength” claims of this shampoo; monsoon is always a major calamity for my hair. My hair fall really increases during monsoons; similar was the case this year too. As soon as I started using this shampoo, I have really noticed a drastic reduction in hair fall; right from the first wash itself. It is magical, but ever since I have started using this shampoo, my hair fall has reduced by around 90% at least. This shampoo has actually been a boon to my monsoon-related dry and damaged hair fall. Really magical!

Pros of L’Occitane Body and Strength Shampoo:

  • Environment-friendly packaging.
  • Braille script added.
  • A small opening helps to regulate the amount of product used.
  • Mild pleasant fragrance.
  • Really cleans my hair.
  • Removes all dirt and grime.
  • Provides volume to my limp hair during monsoons.
  • Has drastically reduced hair fall from first wash itself.
  • Silicone free.
  • Makes my hair smooth and silky.
  • Suitable for all hair types.

Cons of L’Occitane Body and Strength Shampoo:

  • Squeaky clean hair, may be bothersome for some; but it does not dry out my hair.

IMBB Rating:
4.99/5

  1. Arps, I am having a terrible hair fall issue right now 🙁 Just started on supplements two days ago – zinc, vitamin E, vitamin A, and C. I will switch to this shampoo asap 🙂 Is there is any other supplement to stop hair fall?

    1. I was going to suggest iron too; but i think priyanka and anitha have answered your query much better. This product will definitely help too

  2. hi ,
Jomol to answer your question even biotin available as tables, its also seen in egg yolk ( if u have no weight issues that is ), tension and stress can cause hair fall and so can anaemia ( check haemoglobin), upto 100 hair falling in a day is normal ,only worry if u see too much(ask whoever is sweeping whether they are getting to see more hair of late) .
    have a good day all
    imbb great work guys:)

      1. I think it is always better to consult a doc before starting any course. I have had terrible hairfall and i’am only 20. I went to a dermatologist and he prescribed me these biotin tablets and also some syrup with folic acid, iron and vit b12. Thankfully with proper diet and regular intake of these tablets. My hairfall is in check now. Hope this helps 🙂

          1. Thank you so much Anita and Arpita, I recently had blood panel done and now I get what’s happening, I have low haemoglobin and that’s anemia which is the culprit. I am starting on biotin and iron tabs today, so thankful to you guys 🙂

  3. Great to know it has Braille on it too. That’s very thoughtful. I am yet to try L’occitane shampoos, but price stops me. 🙁
