The shampoo comes in a very unusual but nice, square shaped, plastic bottle with a gold press-flip top lid. I like the packaging and it looks cute lying there on my bathroom shelf.

My Experience with L’Occitane en Provence Olive Tree Daily Shampooo:

After reading great reviews about L’occitane hair care range, I was interested in trying something out too.  When I bought this, I had great expectations from this shampoo and I have to say I am fairly impressed. The shampoo is a creamy one, has lotion-like consistency, but not runny and is light amber/golden, caramel like in colour. It has a very pleasant fragrance, a mix of herbal and light citrus-y, but nothing very strong. The fragrance stays only till the time I rinse off the shampoo and not after that. I was expecting this to smell like olive oil, but never mind, I like the fragrance it has. :rose:

The shampoo is a mild one but lathers/foams up well enough (though it does not create loads of foam like normal drugstore shampoos) and gives a nice, clean feel to the hair and scalp.

Post-washing, I notice that it makes my hair soft, supple, shiny and it does add a little bounce to them. Also, my hair did not tangle up badly, nor did I see any severe hair fall which always happens when I use a shampoo which has a strong chemical formula.

Now, there are a lot of shampoos in this world which can make my hair soft, shiny, bouncy etc., but what I like A LOT about this is that it does not weigh down my hair even on the second day of washing. With all routine/drugstore shampoos, I have noticed my hair look great only on the same/first day of head wash, but with this shampoo, my hair does not weigh down and look good even on the second day. This particular fact makes this shampoo a complete winner for me. Also, it has made my hair softer with each use. So far, so good, I quite like this shampoo for my otherwise dry, coarse winter hair.  I would definitely repurchase and recommend this shampoo to ladies with normal to dry hair.

Pros of L’Occitane en Provence Olive Tree Daily Shampoo:

  • Makes my dry and rough hair “soft.”
  • Adds shine to the hair.
  • Gives some volume and bounce to my limp hair.
  • My hair does not weigh down even on the second day of washing.
  • Nice packaging.
  • Lathers up well enough.
  • Mild formula, did not tangle up the hair after washing.
  • Whenever I switch shampoos, I get hair fall, but with this, I didn’t notice any hair fall after rinsing off.
  • It is silicone-free.
  • This shampoo is free from: parabens, animal ingredients, synthetic colourants, silicone, mineral oils, formol or formaldehyde, phenoxyethanol, phtalates, triclosan, BHA, BHT, EDTA .

Cons of L’Occitane en Provence Olive Tree Daily Shampoo:

  • The price, this is one “Luxe shampoo” and the most expensive one I have purchased till date 😐
  • Not easily available in India.

  1. I too have this shampoo and have been using it since a week now and totally agree with your review..the only thing is that it wouldnt remove oil from hair as its a very mild shampoo and me having quite long hair and i require quite a lot of the product to wash my hair so kinda expensive product also but over all a nice shampoo and i totally love the fragrance!

    1. haan Parita, its quite mild and even i have to shampoo with any other shampoo first whenever i put oil my hair , but overall it a s good shampoo 🙂 I like the fragrance too 🙂

  2. Thanks for this Nupur! This sounds perfect for my hair! I’ve been thinking I should keep changing my shampoos, I heard that we shouldn’t stick to the same brand as hair tends to get used to it & not react after a while. Any thoughts on that?

    1. Nafisa, even I have heard that, but I have never stuck with one single shampoo, so I don’t know true or false it is. Basically, silicone build-up in the hair is the reason I guess. If you use silicone-free shampoos, that “used to” factor won’t play up O:) O:) O:)

      1. Oh!! :thanks: :thanks: :thanks: will definitely try some out!
My sister met this lady at her work who she said had FLAWLESS, long, thick, glowing, & all such adjectives kinda hair, so she asked her whats her secret & Rapunzel-lady said she never sticks to the same shampoo… so that got me thinking!

          1. I really cannot gauge it Nupuriz…..waise nowadays I am using loreal one, but even with that, I keep alternating with herbal essences, pantene and everything I can lay my hand on 😐 😐 😐 😐 😐 😐

          2. I have pucca decided to keep changing my shampoo now, I’m still using that Dove Oil Nourishing care 1 I had reviewed a few weeks back, when I’m done with that I’m buying either this one or Herbal Essence 1. 🙂

  4. I’m also using this shampoo. I have oily hair and it doesn’t clean my hair well.I end up using too much shampoo. I think it’s not suitable for oily hair. :nonono:
