L’Occitane Pivoine Flora Eau De Toilette Review

Hi Lovelies,

I will be reviewing the L’Occitane En Provence Pivoine Flora EDT today. Over the last couple of years, I have bought a few L’Occitane perfumes and I like all of them. I totally love all the notes and I do like the packaging of the L’Occitane perfumes as well. I like natural, grown up, but not too “mature” smelling and non-synthetic fragrances. L’Occitane perfumes like most of their products are quite pricey and that is the only thing preventing me from bringing the whole thing home.  I am a regular visitor of the L’Occitane store in Canberra and the SA’s are so friendly and helpful. I have used the shower gel from the Pivoine Flora albeit in travel size and I did like the subtle fragrance of it.

Product Description:

There is a Mediterranean legend of a beautiful nymph named Paeonia who was so courted by the gods that a jealous goddess transformed her into a flower with a thousand petals: a peony.  Since then, this symbol of beauty and femininity brightens every spring with its dazzling show of colors and scents. The Peony Eau de Toilette captures the subtle aura of the peony flower, in a generous perfume marked with green freshness.Contains a peony extract from the south of France (Drome).  This fragrance line was introduced in 2011, I got it last year. According to some online sources, this perfume has citrus notes on top. Grapefruit and bergamot in top notes make a luminous announcement to a bouquet of peonies sprinkled with gentle and fragrant rose petals. Base notes add sandalwood and white musk.

Pivoine EDT

My Experience with L’Occitane Pivoine Flora Eau De Toilette:

Peony flowers are often symbolised as a flower for spring. This particular fragrance was created in spring 2011 to celebrate spring. I haven’t seen many peony trees in Australia, but it is said to be abundant in Mediterranean and I think in a similar way to Japanese Cherry Blossom (sakura) which is symbolised with spring in Japan.

This is essentially a floral fragrance but it has a very strong green base. (By green base, I mean to say it smells of leaves also).  I have never come across a fragrance before which has green base before trying this one. I can smell floral (peony), bergamot as well as greens first and then it dries down to floral notes which are powdery.

Pivoine EDT 1

The bottle is of two tone pink. The bigger size as well as the travel size is shaped the same way. The packaging has cute peony petals.

This is a feminine delicate fragrance and it lasts for quite some time on skin and it smells the same after around six hours. Maybe, it’s because I use this after the shower gel.  My only disappointment in this fragrance is that the peony does not stand out, its not strong. This smells like a floral bouquet instead. So, this would appeal to anyone who likes mild, floral and feminine fragrance. This does not smell as romantic as the delice de fleurs I have tried from L’Occitane.

Pivoine EDT 2

Pros of L’Occitane Pivoine Flora Eau De Toilette:

  • Delicate floral fragrance which also has a green base. Great for spring and summer.
  • The pivoine flora range has shower gel, shower cream, lotion as well as hand cream and can be used for layering.
  • Lasts quite long and stays on skin and smells the same after 5-6 hours.
  • This cute mini 5 ml bottle is perfect to carry around in my handbag, there is a roll on perfume available as well.
  • Thankfully, this does not smell sickeningly sweet like some floral/fruity fragrances.
  • Apt for all age groups as this will suit any one from 20 to 50.It is romantic and delicate and a mature fragrance as well.

Cons of L’Occitane Pivoine Flora Eau De Toilette:

  • Some ladies might not like the green base in the fragrance as it smells leafy/root-y.
  • This is pricey just like perfumes from any other high-end brand.

IMBB Rating:

4/5.

I love this but this is not my favourite fragrance from L’Occitane.  My favourite would be Delice de fleurs reviewed here on IMBB.  I like it more because it smells super romantic and flirty on top of being feminine and cute.

Will I Repurchase L’Occitane Pivoine Flora Eau De Toilette?

Not at this stage, only because I have quite a few perfumes to rotate at the moment and because this is pricey.
