IMBB Sponsored Product Review

Hi Everyone,

This time, I could finally lay my hands on one of the products from the IMBB Sponsored Beauty List. My dhanteras became truly special as I got this enticing gift from the team. So, first things first, I would like to thank Rati and Sanjeev Ji for this awesome opportunity which they gave me.

Skin turns silky smooth as dead skin cells are massaged away.

L’Occitane Verveine Body Salt Scrub 2

Packaging/Price:

INR 3460 (I got it online, in the stores, it may be cheaper). It comes in a bulky transparent glass jar bottle with a silver screw cap. The packaging is not to my liking for two reasons, firstly because it is a glass jar and while taking bath, it tends to slip from my clumsy hands, so there’s always a chance of breaking it.  Secondly, I can’t carry this bulky bottle while travelling. It also comes with a wooden spatula which I loved. Since it is an oil-based scrub, the oil particles and the salt need to be mixed thoroughly, so this spatula comes in handy.

My Take on L’Occitane Verveine Body Salt Scrub:

The first thing which you notice after opening the scrub is the fragrance, I don’t know whether it is the smell or the fragrance, but whatever it is, the initial outburst is very strong and sensitive noses may not like it. More than Verbena, it smells citrusy and that too overpowering. Initially, I didn’t like it, but then while taking a shower and using it continuously for days, I got accustomed to the same. It is a yellowish green mixture which does look and feel fresh in the container. The salt particles are settled down in the glass jar and need to be completely mixed together with the spatula.  I had to take two spoon fulls for the entire body. The bottle will not last you more than a month if used every day.

When I used it on wet skin, the salt particles got dissolved within seconds and I was surprised about the scrubbing properties only to realize later that this needs to be used after drying off the excess water on the body. The granules though seem small, are very good at scrubbing, a little coarse (not harsh though).  During application, the scrub particles massage away the dead skin and leave an oily film on the body, nothing which will feel sticky and can’t be washed off.

My skin was left silky soft and it didn’t feel as dry. Though I could not skip the moisturizer altogether, there was no visible flakiness or dryness (owing to the winter season).  Since it is an oil-based scrub, I guess the oil took care of the moisturizing part.  During winters, the skin on my elbows and knees turn very dry, this scrub has taken care of the problem areas and has definitely shown an improvement.

L’Occitane Verveine Body Salt Scrub 6

I use it on alternate days and it keeps the dry skin (of the elbows and knees ) at bay even on the days I don’t use it. The skin no doubt feels more nourished and has a healthy appearance. It also left a faint citrus smell on the body which lasted up to 2 hours post bath.

L’Occitane Verveine Body Salt Scrub 7

Even my bathroom smelled of verbena and lemons for at least an hour. My skin felt soft even after 8 hours post bath which I found good.  A small con which I noticed was that the salt particles kept dripping down while scrubbing and my bathtub definitely turned oily and had to be cleaned.  Overall, I liked this scrub sans the fragrance.

Summarising the pros and cons:

Pros of L’Occitane Verveine Body Salt Scrub:

  • Makes skin soft post scrubbing.
  • Keeps skin fairly moisturized owing the higher concentration of essential oils.
  • The spatula comes in handy and does its job immaculately.
  • Has shown remarkable difference on the rough areas (read elbows, feet and knees). The texture appears more even and these areas are less dry.
  • True to its claims.

Cons of L’Occitane Verveine Body Salt Scrub:

  • The smell is definitely overpowering.
  • Does make the bathroom a little messy owing to the oily salt scrub particles dripping on the floor while scrubbing.
  • The bulky glass jar packaging.
  • Cannot be used by pregnant women.

Will I Repurchase/Do I Recommend L’Occitane Verveine Body Salt Scrub?

Well, I didn’t like the smell but as far as efficacy goes, I think it is definitely worth a try.
