Lonavala: A heavenly place away from the hustle and bustle of Mumbai and Pune

Lonavala: A heavenly place away from the hustle and bustle of Mumbai and Pune

Hey people, today I’ here again sharing with you all yet another one of my travel expeditions to Lonavala, a superb tourist attraction a few kilometres from Mumbai. This small hill station situated in the western region of the state Maharashtra is situated at a height of 625 meters above the sea level. The place is rich in waterfalls. The place is a romantic gateway from the hustle and bustle of the crowded metropolitan life in Mumbai and Pune.

This hill station forms a part of breathtaking Sahyadri hills and is a perfect location for hiking and trekking. The place is bestowed with many historical forts, ancient caves and wonderful serene lakes. Lonavala offers panoramic views of Deccan plateau on one side and the Konkan coast on the other.
Lonavala lies in the district of Pune and is around 96 kilometres away from Mumbai and 64 kilometres away from Pune.
here are some of the tourist attractions in Lonavala which I visited
Bushy Dam
The Dam is majestic and so beautiful. During rainfalls, the water gushes out of the dam making such a staircase type of waterfall. Its all so amazing.
Here is the photographs of the Dam.

Waterfalls
Along the road while gooing from Mumbai to Lonavala you will get to see so many watefalls, its amazing. The wates is so clean and cold. Ehen we weer going there, it started to rain making the weather all too pleasant. We got out to the watefall in the rain along the road side and had loads of fun. Here is another pic.

Lonavala

Duke’s Nose
This cliff resembles the nose of the Duke of Wellington, which explains its intriguing name. It is a popular viewpoint as it offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains, valleys and forests.

Korigad Fort
The hill fort of Korigad in Amby Valley is located roughly 3050 ft. above sea level. To get there, you travel from Lonavla to the village of Shahpur using any available means of transport, and thence proceed by foot to the fort through rugged hills and forests.

Tiger’s Leap
When viewing the valley from a certain point at this location, one has the illusion of a tiger leaping across the valley, hence the name. The echoes caused by dropping rocks into the crevasse is another attraction.

The mountain side is too beautiful. All over there is lush greenery. The hills are small and a great place for tracking.

Also the place is known for the sweet corn. Its too fab. Hey Delhi people you will forget the sweet corn you eat here if you just taste theirs. The butta we eat in north India, there they have the sweet butta all roasted. I just can’t stop myself from eating them. We even bought many unroasted butta’s back to eat at home.
Also famous is their chikki. You will find Chikki shops all over lonavala with all sorts of variety of chikki.

Climate best suitable to visit Lonaval

Though Lonavala has pleasant year round climate, it is best to visit during October to May. In July, August, September the place receives heavy rainfall, and I hope you people wouldn’t want to get caught in the rains of Maharashtra after so many movies been made on the disaster that is cased there during monsoon. This hill station is extremely pleasant even during summer owing to the occasional showers and constant mountain breeze that cool down the place.

Accommodation

You can either stay in Pune, Mumbai or Lonaval itself. The place has some very nice hotels.
