Lorac Pro 2 Eyeshadow Palette Review

Lorac Pro 2 Eyeshadow Palette Review

By Ramya Iyer

Hello there gorgeous! Happy new year!

This is my first review, so please be kind. Hope you find it useful. Onto the review.

Lorac Pro Eyeshadow Palette

If you love neutral palettes like the Urban Decay Naked series and the Lorac Pro 1, you are sure to enjoy the Lorac Pro 2. This palette was released due to the popularity of the Pro 1 and provides an even more expanded selection of neutral colours and has 2 pops of colour.

Product Details:

Carol Shaw, a renowned makeup artist created this palette with 8 matte and 8 shimmer shades. The eyeshadow layout, dimensions, packaging and number of shades is the same as Pro 1, except the colour of the palette is grey (pro 1 is black). All the shades can be used wet or dry. The only shade common to Lorac Pro 1 and 2 is the shade black.  Fun fact: Lorac is Carol spelt backwards.

Price:

$42 (same as pro 1).

Packaging:

The palette is cardboard material, feels pretty solid, has very minimalistic design, has a magnetic flap and a good-sized mirror like its predecessor. I personally love this palette for travel. The palette comes with an eye primer, which I always use in conjunction with the eyeshadows. I have extremely oily eyelids and this primer manages to keep my shadows intact for a really long time.

Eyeshadows:

The pigmentation is absolutely phenomenal. This factor is important for me since I have very tan skin (Mac NC44) and lightly pigmented shadows just don’t cut it. My eyes look like a shimmer ball with any hardly visible pigment there. The Pro 2 is a neutral palette and has a combination of cool toned and warm toned shadows. I tend to gravitate towards the warmer tones as they flatter my skin tone the best. The shadows are very, very blendable. The only problem I have with this palette is that the shadows are very powdery.  So, my suggestion will be to first lightly load up your brush (a little goes a long way), tap off the excess in the same shadow as where you took it (this way you lose less product) and then apply. This will reduce fallout and also save your product. Also, the fallout tends to go on the palette itself, which can be easily cleaned off with a wet wipe.

How does it compare with Pro 1?

Both are equally awesome and both are neutral palettes, but I personally prefer this over the Pro 1. Pro 1 has slightly warmer shades than Pro 2. If you are debating between Pro 1 and 2, I would say check and see which colours you prefer and which tones flatter you the most.

Urban Decay Naked vs. Lorac Pro 1 and 2. Which is better?

Lot of beauty gurus on YouTube say go for Lorac, which is exactly what I did and I don’t regret it one bit. Lorac shadows have more matte shadows and are slightly lesser in price than the Urban Decay ones. Those are good points to consider before you make your decision.

Eyeshadow combinations:

I love doing one shadow looks with this palette. I personally prefer shimmery lids, a matte transition shade and matte highlight. My favourite go-to look is the shade “Mocha” all over the lid and shade cocoa in the outer corner. I use my favourite shade “Nectar” as transition shade and shade “Buff” as highlight. Or if I am feeling lazy, I will use the shade “Rose” all over my lid and only blend out the edges of that with nectar.

For a one-shadow look, you can use Mocha (warm tone shade) or Chrome (cool tone shade) and blend it from the lids all the way into the crease, and then blend out the edges and you are done! I love this look when I am in a rush but still want a little colour and sparkle on my eyes.

For shimmery daytime look (warm tones): Use Rose all over the lid, layer Mocha at the outer third of the eyelid and blend. (If you want to darken up the outer corner, you can go in with Cocoa either on top of the Mocha shade or alone). Lt. brown or nectar are the transition shades I would use. For highlight, use Snow or Beige.

For matte daytime look (warm tones):  Use Nectar all over the lid and darken up the outer corner with plum. You can use lt. brown or nectar again as transition shade, and buff as highlight. The combination of nectar and plum works really well in my opinion.

For shimmery daytime look (cool tones): Use Chrome all over the lid and Charcoal or Black or Cool Grey in the outer corner. You can use the shades lt. brown or Nectar just above the crease to add some warmth if you prefer. Use Silver or Snow on the inner corner and highlight.

For matte daytime look (cool tones):  Use Buff all over the lid and Cool Grey in the outer corner and crease. You can use Nectar or lt. brown just above the Cool Grey to add some warmth. You can use the same shade Buff as highlight.

For nighttime looks, add Black in the outer corner and lower lash line and smoke it out.

For the perfect smoky eyes, use Silver all over the lid and use Charcoal and Black at the outer corners and blend. Apply silver and black to the lower lash line and finish up with mascara and liner. If you don’t want to use pencil or gel liner, you can dip your liner brush in a mixing medium like Mac Fix+ and then onto black and then line your eyes.

Pops of colour: For these looks, I would suggest go in with the transition shade of your choice first. They are cool tone pops, I would say warm up the crease with lt.brown or nectar. Try to first lay down green or blue cream shadows (if you have them) before going in and packing on the shade jade or navy, and then blend.

Be more careful with the shade Navy as it blends a little too much and disappears. Basically it loses the “blueness” if you blend too much. Both of these are amazing for nighttime looks. I don’t see them working as daytime looks, but if you wanna rock the look, go ahead girl! More power to you!

Where can I get it?

I got mine off Amazon.com (the US website).

Would I Repurchase Lorac Pro 2 Eyeshadow Palette?

Oh yes! If I run out of it, I will place an order immediately!

It is very very good value for money considering you will most likely use it more frequently than bulky palettes or palettes which have bright eyeshadows. It is an amazing investment so I highly recommend. Sorry for such a lengthy review, but I wanted it to be as comprehensive as possible.
