Like I mentioned in previous posts, I am constantly looking for products to amp up my hair when it’s a bit dull. Since it is spring time here, my hair tends to be extra flat and it’s when I am in desperate need of a volumizing product. I ran into this L’Oreal Boost It Mousse which is selling like hot cakes in Walgreens. I decided to give it a try too. Read along to see how it worked for me.
Our high-performance, lightweight, aerated mousse gives lifeless hair a volume injection for 24 hours. Infused with thickening agents, hair is boosted for a long lasting, bouncy and volumized look.
Directions For Use:
Shake well. Hold can upside down and dispense into palm. Boost It evenly throughout damp hair. Style as usual.
My Experience with L’Oreal Boost It Volume Inject Mousse:
The L’Oreal Boost It Volume Inject Mousse comes in a black aerosol can with purple colored lettering on it. It is a mousse formula which is dispensed by pressing the top nozzle. One very annoying problem with this packaging is the dispenser. It is really hard to press, and once you do end up pressing, it takes a while for the product to come out.
I use this occasionally right before blow drying my hair. I dispense a quarter size amount in my palms and work it throughout my damp hair, focusing on the roots. After that, I use a roller brush and blow dry from root to tip. It gives me a really nice amount of volume, especially in my crown area. This L’Oreal mousse claims to have extra strong hold and promises to lock style strand by strand for 24 hours with body and volume. I would not say it keeps 24 hours of volume, but it does last me all day time. Basically from morning to evening, I have noticed my hair volume stays good for about 5 hours and then it starts descending, but nothing major.
Though I should mention, not to use too much product. It makes my hair greasy really fast, I get way too much product buildup by just using a little, so you can just imagine how much I had when I used too much. Other than the buildup issue, another problem I have with this product is the scent. It truly smells like a cheap scented men’s cologne. I thought I liked it at first, but after I actually registered the smell, it started irritating my nose. Thankfully, it is not that noticeable after an hour of application, but it still was very annoying.
Overall, I really enjoy using this product. I really feel that I can overlook the minor flaws, and fully use this product. It leaves my hair looking very nice, healthy, shiny and bouncy.
Pros of L’Oreal Boost It Volume Inject Mousse:
- Gives good volume and body to the hair.
- Volume lasts a decent amount of time.
- It adds a nice shine to the hair.
- Adds bounce to hair.
Cons of L’Oreal Boost It Volume Inject Mousse:
- The packaging is very annoying and hard to work with.
- Has a very unpleasant scent.
- Causes a lot of buildup in hair.
Would I Recommend L’Oreal Boost It Volume Inject Mousse?
Yes, I recommend this if you can handle the smell. I am very sensitive to scents, but I can get over this. I guess it takes a bit getting used to.
Would I Repurchase L’Oreal Boost It Volume Inject Mousse?
Yes, but I have seen that L’Oreal has more types of root boosters, I would like to try more options.
