L’Oreal Boost It Volume Inject Mousse Review

Hi Ladies,

Like I mentioned in previous posts, I am constantly looking for products to amp up my hair when it’s a bit dull. Since it is spring time here, my hair tends to be extra flat and it’s when I am in desperate need of a volumizing product.  I ran into this L’Oreal Boost It Mousse which is selling like hot cakes in Walgreens. I decided to give it a try too. Read along to see how it worked for me.

My Experience with L’Oreal Boost It Volume Inject Mousse:

The L’Oreal Boost It Volume Inject Mousse comes in a black aerosol can with purple colored lettering on it. It is a mousse formula which is dispensed by pressing the top nozzle. One very annoying problem with this packaging is the dispenser. It is really hard to press, and once you do end up pressing, it takes a while for the product to come out.

I use this occasionally right before blow drying my hair. I dispense a quarter size amount in my palms and work it throughout my damp hair, focusing on the roots. After that, I use a roller brush and blow dry from root to tip. It gives me a really nice amount of volume, especially in my crown area.  This L’Oreal mousse claims to have extra strong hold and promises to lock style strand by strand for 24 hours with body and volume. I would not say it keeps 24 hours of volume, but it does last me all day time. Basically from morning to evening, I have noticed my hair volume stays good for about 5 hours and then it starts descending, but nothing major.

Though I should mention, not to use too much product. It makes my hair greasy really fast, I get way too much product buildup by just using a little, so you can just imagine how much I had when I used too much. Other than the buildup issue, another problem I have with this product is the scent. It truly smells like a cheap scented men’s cologne. I thought I liked it at first, but after I actually registered the smell, it started irritating my nose. Thankfully, it is not that noticeable after an hour of application, but it still was very annoying.

L’Oreal Boost It Volume Inject Mousse

Overall, I really enjoy using this product. I really feel that I can overlook the minor flaws, and fully use this product. It leaves my hair looking very nice, healthy, shiny and bouncy.

Yes, I recommend this if you can handle the smell. I am very sensitive to scents, but I can get over this. I guess it takes a bit getting used to.

  1. I’ve used this and I had the same complaints – annoying packaging and a weird scent! But it worked well for my hair, so was able to overlook these glitches!

Shania, you look so, so, so, so, so beautiful in your dp!! *heart*

  2. Don’t know if I have a defective container or not, but the dispenser is almost impossible to use. I press with all my strength and after several tries, get just a small dribble of foam. The mousse is good, but the container is so bad I would not recommend this product to anyone.
