L’Oreal Color Appeal Duo Eyeshadow – 221 Smoky Green Review
Hello Ladies,
Today, I am here with the review of an eyeshadow, this is a duo eyeshadow from L’Oreal. As you all know by now, I love eye makeup, so do my friends and once in a while, I get these gifts from them. What a lovely gesture, right?!!! This eyeshadow too is a gift from one of my friends. So, let’s see whether I am impressed with this product or not.
Price:
$6-8
Product Description:
L’Oreal Paris Color Appeal is a long lasting, silky soft eyeshadow in a range of shades and finishes. Super-smooth, ultra fine texture for easy blending. Color Appeal uses a new Micro-Jet technology designed to create an exceptionally fine, versatile powder that is easy to blend and beautiful to wear. The super-smooth, ultra-fine texture glides smoothly over the eyelid for even, comfortable colour that doesn’t crease.
My Take on L’Oreal Color Appeal Duo Eyeshadow – 221 Smoky Green:
The duo eyeshadow comes in a cute square-shaped, transparent and gold packing, it has a real classy and elegant look. The eye shadow inside is shaped like a circle, divided in half where each half represents the shades. There is a small plastic, sponge applicator inside, which is pretty useless. I tried applying the shade with the applicator and the plastic portion inside the sponge started poking my eyes, which was very irritating.
Both the shades come under the family of greens – one shade is a medium olive green and the other one is a dark bottle green colour. The texture of these shadows is very soft and smooth and glides easily on your eyes. It is also quite pigmented, one can easily pack the colour onto the eyelids. Even though the colours shown in the box have a major difference between them, when you apply on the eyes, it looks almost the same with very slight variation. The light colour looks pretty dark on your eyes and extra care should be taken while blending them together or it might look like one big mess of green on your eyes.
The shades have a light pearly finish in the box while it applies as a matte on your eyes. It would have been beautiful if at least one of the shades were pearly or metallic. They cant be applied together, it gives a very monotonous look, I had a tough time creating a perfect look with this eye shadow. I am not really impressed with the colour combination and finish of the product. Even though they are quite pigmented, the colour itself is very dull and it gives a tired look to your face rather than a smoky green vibrant look.
This colour combination is best suited for medium to fair skin tones, while dusky skin tones will find it difficult to pull off this colour, it will rather give a ghastly look on their face. I have just worn this once and have never felt like wearing it again. So, let me sum this up for you.
Pros of L’Oreal Color Appeal Duo Eyeshadow – 221 Smoky Green:
- Very soft and smooth shadows, quite easy to apply and blend.
- They are quite pigmented and can be packed on the lids to get a full on colour.
- Classy and elegant packing, very travel friendly too.
Cons of L’Oreal Color Appeal Duo Eyeshadow – 221 Smoky Green:
- There is very slight variation in the shades, it looks almost the same.
- It looks like a pearly finish in the packing while it settles down to a matte finish when applied on eyes.
- The colours tend to create a dull look on your face.
- The sponge applicator provided is useless.
IMBB Rating:
2.5/5, I would not recommend this duo eyeshadow to anyone, but can definitely try out other shades from this range.
Would I Repurchase L’Oreal Color Appeal Duo Eyeshadow – 221 Smoky Green?
