Hope you are enjoying your day! Today, I am reviewing an eyeshadow quad from L’Oreal. This is “Rose For Romance” from the L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Eye Shadow range. The quad number is 105.

How To Use:

1. Color:  Color the entire eye-lid.
2. Brighten:  Sweep onto brow bone.
3. Contour:  Blend into the crease for depth.
4. Define:  Apply along lash line.

My Experience with L’Oreal Colour Riche Eyeshadow  – Rose For Romance:

Packaging:  The eyeshadow quad comes in a small four pan palette with a transparent lid which has a gold border. I like the way it looks, but unfortunately, the plastic seems to be flimsy and may break easily. Moreover, the golden lid gets scratched very easily and also collects fingerprints!

The lid does close securely and so it will not open up in your makeup bag, but make sure not to put too much pressure on this delicate palette! The transparent lid makes it easier to see the colors in the palette without having to open the lid.

The palette comes with a double-ended sponge tip applicator. There is no mirror. The label on the back of the palette has some instructions with an image, depicting which portion of the eyelid each color should go on. This is really helpful for beginners.

Color and Finish:

Shade 1 – This is a pinky mauve shade with a frost finish.
Shade 2 – This is an ivory shade with a frost finish.
Shade 3 – This is a taupe shade with a shimmer finish.
Shade 4 – This is a chocolate brown shade with a satin finish.

Shades 1 and 2 are too frosty for my liking. The colors are beautiful, but the finish is disappointing.

Pigmentation:

All the shadows in this palette, except for the ivory shade, have a decent pigmentation. The ivory shade needs to be packed on to get some color. A primer is a must to get these eye shadows show up better on the lids and stay put for a longer time.

Texture:

The texture of shades 1 and 2, the pinky mauve and the ivory, are really disappointing. The pink one feels chunky and the ivory one is so chalky. The taupe and brown are decent. They feel and apply smooth. Due to the gritty nature of shades 1 and 2, there is a lot of fall out.

Longevity:

Longevity is a concern with this eye shadow quad, a primer is a must. With a primer, this lasts on my oily lids for over 6 hours, after which it fades.

Pros of L’Oreal Colour Riche Eyeshadow  – Rose For Romance:

• Beautiful colors for a soft every day look.
• Decent pigmentation, except for the ivory shade.

Cons of L’Oreal Colour Riche Eyeshadow  – Rose For Romance:

• Two of the shades (pink and ivory) are too frosty.
• Powdery/chalky texture.
• Lot of fall out.
• Primer is a must to prevent creasing and fading.

This is a very disappointing eyeshadow quad from L’Oreal. The colors are so pretty but they are frosty and need too much work to get a good look out of them. There are many better eye shadows in the market. This can surely be skipped.
