Today, I am reviewing a shade from the Intelligent CC lip balm range of L’Oreal called “Fearless Red.” As you can guess from the name, it is a red shade, but read on to know if this deserves a special mention in the league of the lip balms.

My Experience with L’Oreal Fearless Red Intelligent Color-Caressing Lip Balm:
The packaging is the selling point of this range; I bet you cannot resist picking up a shade or two from the collection when you see them at the counter. It is similar to the “Infallible” range packaging with a twist, where the cap is sheer colored and in sync with the shade of the balm. The shade name and number are mentioned at the base of the tube. The ingredients are mentioned on the outer transparent cover, which is lost once you rip it off.
The texture is just like butter, it has a slip to it, which is not uncomfortable, but definitely unlike the thick healing lip balms. It is like a sheer layer of balm on the lips which gives incredible shine. It would not be suitable to put on a lipstick on top of it as the color would not sit on the slippery balm.
“Fearless Red” is the most pigmented of the ones I own. It is a tomato red kind of shade and gives a lot of color in just single swipe. It is satisfying to get so much color out of a lip balm, but the problem is that it collects at the corners if you want to go more than a layer or two. Also, there is a chance of this getting smeared when you eat/drink something; it does transfer heavily as well. There is a typical candy-like fragrance to the lip balm, which is okay, but I am not too fond of.
The staying power of the balm is 5 to 6 hours, although the shine and color vanishes in 2 hours or so, depending on the food and water intake. Even though the shine vanishes, the hydration remains for some more time. It is quite pigmented considering it is a lip balm and if you are fond of shiny glossy red lips, you might enjoy wearing this as a tinted red lip balm.

- Low staying power.
- Not for healing chapped lips.

Repurchase – no.
Recommend – if you like such reds and really want to shell out that much for a super glossy red lip balm, go ahead.
