Hope you are enjoying your day! Today I am reviewing a shampoo from L’Oreal. This is the L’Oreal Total Repair Extreme shampoo, which seems to be the upgraded version of the L’Oreal Total Repair 5 Shampoo.

This range was released by L’Oreal early this year and consists of:

• Total Repair Extreme shampoo
• Total Repair Extreme Conditioner
• Total Repair Extreme Ultra-Concentrated Urgent Repair Care
• Total Repair Extreme Split Ends Double Serum

INNOVATIONS & INGREDIENTS: The advanced formula enriched with LAK 1000 and Ceramide deeply penetrates layers inside the hair fibre and helps repair broken fibres. Overall the hair fibre appears reconstructed and restored right to the tips, leaving it soft to the touch.

PRODUCT BENEFITS: Penetrates layers deep and repairs broken fibres.
When hair is extremely damaged, a series of external aggressions can deteriorate the layers that compose the hair fibre. Total Repair Extreme works to penetrate these layers and helps repair split ends.

My experience with L’Oreal Total Repair Extreme Shampoo:

My hair is pretty damaged as I color it once in two months or so. Also, my hair is subjected to some heat styling. I do try to use a heat-protecting spray, but find that in spite of this, hair does get damaged over a period of time. So I was really excited to try this shampoo.

This range is meant for “Extremely Damaged/Over-processed Hair”. The shampoo claims to repair split ends and renew damaged hair – colored or exposed to heat styling tools etc. It contains Lactic acid which, apparently, penetrates the layers of the hair to reconstruct the hair fibre, along with the ceramide component.

My main problem with my hair is the dryness and frizz. In spite of my scalp being very oily, my hair as such is dry and frizzy due to the hair coloring. The shampoo comes in the standard L’Oreal bottle with a flip cap. The cap closes tightly and can be carried along while travelling, if you want to.The shampoo is white in color and smells really good! Not an overly strong fragrance, but a pleasant smell. The smell lasts on the hair for a day. The consistency of the shampoo is quite thick. It spreads easily in the hair and cleans pretty well. My scalp feels clean and fresh. It does not leave any greasiness. I do not have split ends. So I cannot really say whether this shampoo would repair split ends completely.

The shampoo did not cause any additional hair fall. I do have a hair fall issue, but it is due to some health conditions. I did not find this shampoo increasing the hair fall by any means. The best part is that my hair feels a lot smoother and say, 80% frizz-free. I love how smooth and shiny it makes my hair look! It stays like that for the entire day. I feel the frizz slightly increasing the next day. I have used this shampoo for over a month and find that my hair does feel less dry than before. The frizz-free effect lasts only for a day, but hair does look and feel healthier than before.

Pros of L’Oreal Total Repair Extreme Shampoo:

• Leaves hair smooth and frizz free
• Keeps hair looking moisturized and healthy
• Does not cause hair fall
• Smells good
• Inexpensive

Cons of L’Oreal Total Repair Extreme Shampoo:

• The smoothing effects last just for a day. Hair starts becoming frizzy again the next day.
