My Experience with L’Oreal HiP Bright Shadow Duo – Brazen 118:

I had heard a lot of good things about this HiP line of L’Oreal eye shadows. HiP stands for High Intensity Pigments. So, the USP of this line is the intense pigmentation. Not many drugstore eye shadows are great with respect to pigmentation. Of course, there are some good ones, like the Wet n Wild color icon eye shadows, which are all intensely pigmented, but the ones put out by many other brands are more of a hit or miss kind. So finding a good drugstore eye shadow is a really exciting thing for me!

The eye shadow duo comes in a small round compact with two semi-circular pans. The palette has a transparent lid which closes securely making it travel-friendly. The transparent lid makes it easy to see the colors in the pan without having to open the lid. It is small enough to carry in your handbag.

The back of the compact opens up to reveal a mirror and a tiny sponge tip applicators. Both these are not very helpful, in my opinion. The sponge tip applicator is too small to get much use out of it. The mirror at the back too is not very convenient to use. You will have to get the eye shadow on your brush/applicator, flip the compact and open the back lid to access the mirror. Do-able, but not convenient. They could probably have skipped the mirror and reduced the cost instead!

L’Oreal Bright Shadow Duos come in two shades, one being a bright, vivid shade and another being a neutral shade to balance the bright shade. The Brazen duo contains a bright raspberry pink and a dark chocolate brown shade.  This duo creates an intense look which is really pretty with the pink and brown combination, but more suited for an evening look. For a day look, I would recommend using the pink or brown in the crease with a lighter eye shadow on the lid and the brown in this duo used as a liner.

Both these shades have excellent pigmentation. You need to use a light hand with these and build up if you need more.

The texture of both these eye shadows is really soft. They are quite easy to blend. As with any eye shadow, make sure you tap the excess of your brush before you apply the color on the eyelid.

Both the shadows in this duo are completely matte. Because of this, either of these shades can be used in the crease along with other shades for different looks. I also love the combined pink-brown look since they look more like a satin finish on the lids.

The longevity is really impressive. Even without a primer, these lasted on my oily lids for over 8 hours. They do not crease or fade. Even at the end of the day, they looked just as they did when initially applied.
