My take on the L’Oreal Micellar Cleansing Water

The product comes in a transparent rectangular shaped bottle with a white flip open cap and all the necessary details are printed on it. The small hole in the cap provides a controlled dispensing of the product. The cleansing water looks like pure and clear water, even the consistency is the same very light-weight. There is a very faint fragrance which is not at all overwhelming and it does not have any greasy feel. The feel is just like you have applied water on your face, except that water does not remove all the dirt and makeup on your face while this does. I have been using this for past 1 month and now I really know what it does. It can be used to remove any sorts of makeup be it eyes, lips or face but I mainly started using this on my eyes in the beginning.

Usually oil-based makeup removers helps in removing eye makeup easily and effectively, but I have very less tolerance for them. Oils easily irritate my eyes, however little I try to use, they always make my eyes water which is very annoying. Even when I used oil-based makeup removers, the same happened. So when I was prying for face washes, my eyes naturally gravitated towards this new bottle called Micellar Cleansing Water and I also remembered having read a review about them here in IMBB. Defenitely, I had to take it and if it really helps serve my purpose then I planned to stick on with it.

When I first tried it on my eyes, it gave a real cooling sensation, without irritating my eyes in any manner. I could easily wipe of my makeup using cotton balls, with time to time dip in the bottle. I had to use a little more quantity when clearing off water-proof makeup and lipsticks that stains heavily. But it didn’t matter much for me, because it really soothed my skin without giving me any irritation or break-outs or even watery eyes. I always rinsed my face after using the cleansing water even though they have mentioned it is not necessary. I never feel clean unless and until I cleanse.

But one day when I felt super duper lazy, I used the cleansing water and removed all traces of makeup and just left without rinsing and later in the evening when it just dawned on me that I didn’t even apply a moisturizer, I immediately touched my face, it was very smooth and soft and never had any stretchy feeling, please note I have a dry combination skin and can never skip a moisturizer. There was no oiliness to the T-zone, so it helps in regulating oil production without drying out your face. I totally love it and this will be my HG companion till I find another. It is said to be for dry and sensitive skin but I think it is also suitable for normal and oily skin types

In the swatches I have clearly shown how makeup is removed.

Overall this is really working well for me even though I have to use more quantity while removing water-proof makeup. Its pretty decent for the price and live up to the standards they claim except for illumination. I did not find any illuminating look on my face, 4 out of their 5 claims stands true. So summing up the pros and cons.

Cons of L’Oreal Hydra-Total 5 Micellar Cleansing Water

Requires more quantity while removing water-proof makeup and tough lipstick stains.
Have to use 3 to 4 cotton pads to completely remove the make up, which consumes a lot of product
The bottle will not last long for someone who constantly use makeup on a daily basis.
When compared to oil-based makeup removers we tend to use a lot of quantity due to the watery nature.
