Here’s a new launch by L’Oreal and like every time, two simple colors come home with me 😛 One is this red, Alerte Rouge and the other a muted nude (review coming up). There are a lot of shades in this range, but all of them are not available yet at the counters, so I would suggest to wait for a while before making the choice. Till then, here are my thoughts on the shade “Alerte Rouge.”
Our “no compromise” gloss is here. The formula is enriched with hyaluronic acid and shine colour pigments, leaving lips hydrated with a high level of shine. Enjoy a glossy look, without stickiness. The lip shaper applicator contours and hugs lips for a perfect glossy pout, all day.
My Experience with L’Oreal Paris 106 Alerte Rouge Infallible Mega Gloss:
This lip gloss comes in a regular packaging which is transparent and you can see the color through the packaging. The cap is smart shiny black which adds to the simple gorgeousness of the packaging.
The applicator sponge is pretty unique in shape. One dip is enough to cover the lips as the sponge has a reservoir kind of a thing which stores the color. The tip of the sponge is pointed, hence it is easy to reach the corners and to give definition to the Cupid’s bow. Overall, the lip gloss has a smart classy packaging.
The texture of the lip gloss is more like a lip gel, in my opinion. The good thing about this is, it is absolutely non-sticky and yet gives a good dose of moisture to the lips. The pigmentation is medium to buildable, but I like to put on a single swipe as I do not want the uncomfortable heavy feel on the lips.
If you have pigmented lips like me, I would suggest wearing a lip liner beneath; it would give a longer staying power and also cover the pigmentation on the lips.
The shade “Alerte Rouge” is a gorgeous neutral red. The gloss adds to the beauty of the shade without making it look cheap or tacky. I find the gel texture to be ultra comforting on the lips and is very forgiving when it comes to dry and chapped lips. It is better to keep the rest of the look simple as the gloss is going to draw all the attention.
The staying power depends on the food/fluid intake and also on the base on which it is applied. Without any base, it stayed on my lips for 2-3 hours after which it starts fading and reapplication is a must. It does not leave any cheap stain behind which is a pro for me. With a lip liner beneath, the staying power of the lip gloss can be extended up to 5 hours maximum. As I am not a big fan of glosses, I am not too excited about these; but if you love wearing glosses, do try this range at the store; they have various finishes like cream, matte, dazzle etc.

Cons of L’Oreal Paris 106 Alerte Rouge Infallible Mega Gloss:
