My Experience with L’Oreal Paris #108 Matte-r of Fact Colour Riche Le Matte Lip Pen:

Well, these lip pens also come in similar retractable plastic pen packaging like the La Lacque Lip Pens. The color of the packaging coincides with their respective shades and they do have subtle,  signature L’Oreal fragrance. Overall, like I always say, L’Oreal did it again – a winner in every aspect right from the packaging to product quality!

This shade is matte purple which comes up as a very wearable, pinkish purple matte stain on my lips unlike usual vampy shades. I love how it does not accentuate my tanned skin; infact, it compliments it for good! I am sure it will flatter variety of Indian skin tones including pale/tanned skin. This is the first matte purple shade which does not highlight our lip lines or dry flakes, and is just sober & soft on our skin tone.

Coming to its texture, it is way soft and non-tugging, unlike the La Lacque ones, and I like this fact. I love how it glides effortlessly like second skin on my normal – dry lips even with no tugging at all. It just runs like melted butter giving moist matte finish which transforms into dry matte stain after a while. It does have a subtle glossy sheen and feels more like a velvet gel texture on lips, to my liking!

I am amazed to see how this matte gel textured lip pen gives buildable coverage to my lightly pigmented lips apart from being a lightweight gel consistency product. I mean you can even figure out with a hand swatch that how it gives a non-creamy, non-cakey finish like a stain. It certainly is a perfect choice for everyone including beauties with pigmented lips, I feel. Moreover, it is intensely pigmented to give medium to full coverage with just 1-2 swipes. It does not look cakey or accentuate dry flakes on our lips, even with multiple swipes.

L’Oreal Paris #108 Matte-r of Fact Colour Riche La Lacque Lip Pen Review6

Usually I have seen that matte stains are not very forgiving for dry lips, but this is an exception as it does not accentuate minor lip flaws such as dry flakes, lip lines and even lightly pigmented lips. It looks beautiful on lips without settling into the contours of lips, bleeding or smudging even a bit. I totally swear by its velvet matte texture which never accentuates my dry lips. I never find a need of using a lip balm with this shade and I don’t feel like using lip balm for hours even after removing it off my lips. How cool is that!

It does transfer which explains that it is not a stain, but still it manages to stay for 5+ hours on my lips with no fading, smudging and/or giving uneven finish. It does leave behind a pretty pink stain once it fades which is fine to me as it is easily removable. I am sure every age group would like to sport this shade and finish. And, you certainly need to try it to understand why I call it second skin for lips. It is a winner in every sense right from its retractable packaging to texture to intensely pigmented finish. I would always get it again & again. It is awesome!

Let’s sum up pros and cons:

Pros of L’Oreal Paris #108 Matte-r of Fact Colour Riche Le Matte Lip Pen:

• A lightweight, intensely pigmented matte purple shade with subtle hints of pink undertones
• Suitable for all age groups
• It glides like butter even on dry lips without tugging or pulling
• It is more soft than the La Laque range
• Very pigmented and gives buildable coverage
• Despite being a matte shade, it never highlights lip flaws
• I do not require a lip balm when I have it on my lips and even for 5+ hours after removing it
• It stays put for 5+ hours, but it transfers a little too
• Does not bleed or look cakey on lips
• Gives a stain like finish, without being dry like one
• Retractable hygienic packaging with subtle fragrance

Cons of L’Oreal Paris #108 Matte-r of Fact Colour Riche Le Matte Lip Pen:

• Limited shades

Well honestly, I could not think of any significant cons for this Le Matte collection! I am all head over heels with this collection, especially for its soft texture and intense pigmentation. Also, the shades in this range are very wearable. Very rarely do we get such beautiful purple shade which is matte and does not accentuate lip flaws, especially from a drugstore brand. This is my new favorite matte lip color now!

  1. We should have these ranges in India soon. I like this one better than previous range, since you had mentioned that it kinda tugs during application. The shade is indeed gorgeous and wearable. 🙂
